I have been seeing Alex at Open Minds for over a year now and she is absolutely fantastic! She’s has helped me tremendously and I truly could not have gotten through the last year without her! Evelyn and Nala have been working with my kiddo for a few months now and he actually looks forward to his appointment each week! I honestly could not have chosen a better person to work with him. We truly adore both Alex and Evelyn! And of course Nala too!

I went to Open Minds for a little over 4 years, going once a week every week and it was such a wonderful experience for me. I always felt listened to and like my therapist (Alexandra Wofford) was always giving me the best and most quality care. She always encouraged me to speak freely and honestly during our sessions, made sure I knew it was a judgement free zone and that every feeling I voiced was valid. It was also nice because I was able to bring my child when I needed to and Alex always had toys for him to play with so I was still able to talk and get what I needed. Sadly I had to move otherwise I would probably still be going every week. Cannot recommend Open Minds enough, especially Alex.

I started therapy with Open Minds for one reason but due to the waiting list I didn’t get started for a few months but it came at the right time due to new and huge changes/life events. I attend virtually which is awesome because that’s the only way my life would allow me to attend these sessions. Some days my therapist sees me at my actual worst and in my pjs which I think actually gives a real special level of honesty you don’t get in office visits. They can see how you’re truly doing. The process is easy even if the work we do isn’t always. My therapist is kind, understanding and helpful. I’m incredibly thankful for Open Minds and the incredible support and staff. I highly recommend them to anyone. Bonus because I attend virtually, my therapist moved and I didn’t have to switch she took me with her so to speak. That’s huge for recovery.

I had the pleasure of working with Alex for a year. I knew when working with a therapist it’s important to find the right fit for you and Alex was the perfect fit. From the start it never felt like I was in a therapy session. She always asked about my every day life and conversation would organically lead to deeper issues. I felt so comfortable in her office and with her, it felt like you were conversing with a friend. Anyone that asks for a recommendation I jump at the chance to mention Alex.

My child has been working with Evelyn for a few years now and she is absolutely amazing! She truly cares and it shows. She extends that to my whole family and is great at communicating and keeping us all on the same track.
She has gone above and beyond to accommodate us and make adjustments as needed. We are truly thankful for her and would highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of working with Tamara for further licensure credentialing and my experience was nothing short of amazing. She is professional, extremely knowledgeable, very supportive and always willing to help/guide me when something came up at work. Working with her has been invaluable.

I’m really grateful for my therapist, Alex. It was a bit rough at the start getting in contact, but it all worked out. She really has helped to guide me through the hard times and help guide me through my decisions. Her space is very welcoming and comfortable. I work, so she is very accommodating to my schedule. We’ll meet during my lunch time to talk and we enjoy our lunch together. Thank you for all that you do!

I work with Alex here and have been for the last few weeks. It has been great, I feel like she understands what I am having difficulties with and has a plan to help me stay on track. I would recommend her especially for expecting mothers struggling with mental health.

Absolutely loved working with Ana. She helped me through a very tough time in my life and I’m very thankful for that. I was able to talk to her like a friend and not like a therapist. I was very nervous about going to therapy, but needed up loving it! Thank you!

After relocating to Alamogordo, I was having extreme difficulty adjusting without relief from my usual coping techniques due to past trauma. I decided to help myself and contacted Open Minds. While I had to wait to begin sessions due to their waitlist, I believe that they were absolutely amazing at accommodating me. I began EDMR, CBT, and DBT with Chelsea. She is empathetic, accommodating, and meets you where you’re at… the patient sets the pace. I love this, as in the past at other places I’ve experienced patronizing therapist with a “deadline” for success.

Would I recommend Open Minds? Yes (and I have).

Would I recommend my therapist [Chelsea] specifically? Absolutely!

Tamara Dees is an absolutely phenomal supervisor for myself as an LMSW. Seriously, if I could give 10 stars I would. She is so personable, intelligent, knowledgeable, and above all else has common sense. I feel very comfortable talking with her about questions that come up for me and skills I am looking to hone in on. She has never once made me feel incompetent or demeaned and is extremely professional. I would highly recommend for anyone seeking supervision as you will get a world of knowledge in working with Tamara. I know I am a better social worker because of her.

I worked with Chelsea, and the experience has transformed me. Over the course of two years that I've been healing, I'm unrecognizable from the person I used to be.
Open minds made it easy to get started and worked with my insurance so that all I needed to worry about was getting started on healing.

I have been in therapy with (first) Whitney and (second) Chelsea for years. I got sober with Whitney before she relocated elsewhere and have done a lot of trauma work, EMDR, CBT, and now DBT with Chelsea. I'm learning to recognize my own trauma responses and practice new coping skills that allow me to react to those triggers in healthier, more effective ways. My self-esteem has improved. I've gained countless insights through talk therapy and EMDR has been a lifesaver. Offering both in-person and tele-health visits is a huge plus, they have always taken my insurance plans, and I appreciate the flexibility in scheduling since my availability often changes. Self-care is so important, especially mental healthcare, and I could not ask for better care than what I've received at Open Minds.

I’m so thankful for Tamara Dees and her team! Professional services and care by experts that will work with your busy schedule and care. Our country has in a decline towards our treatment of mental health for decades and let’s face it, Covid made it worse. Why would you delay or procrastinate if you feel you need help? Act now, YOU DESERVE the best version of YOU.

I have been to therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists my whole life and have recently been through more new traumas. Like when I moved to Alamogordo I wanted to check in to a mental hospital and actually walked to Gerald Champion from more trouble than I ever had seen. Things got so bad later that I was considering trying to get evaluated for electroconvulsive therapy. I have been regularly being treated for five year or around that now and I am rebuilding myself and healing things in a more empowering way than what I had hoped for-- to become a vegetable wiped of my memories by some presence of degrees, or at least that is how I would have taken it if I could have.
I mentioned Open Minds on a post I made about hiking. The healing transformation in my mind are much like the healing and transformation of my body.
"When I made that little trick happen, everything I had feared to do in my usual shoes I tried out and I did, at one point, a series of bounds that took me about fifteen feet in the same time I could have taken two paces! That's FLYING!
Kung Fu movie flying!
Oh and I have a better staff. I owe a lot to this new monastic approach to life I'm trying to have. But truthfully, I am working through a lot of depression and PTSD issues and I owe a great deal to therapy I am getting at Open Minds, who I said I would review, so there's two birds with one stone right there!
When I moved to Alamo I was Gordo. I had high blood pressure and obesity and fatty liver related issues from HCFC. I'm 55 year old and I changed my life because I'm in the best therapy I have ever been in. I have the power to transform myself, to transform my grief and despair into hope and happiness. My body could not have come to be in such powerful shape and fine balance had I not been able to overcome my body by the will of my mind.
I would have been dead or in worse shape than ever without what I've learned from my therapist."

I've been seeing Alex for over two years now, and she has absolutely saved my life. I don't say that lightly, when I came to her I was broken, and I finally feel like I'm on my way to recovery. I highly recommend her, and open minds.

I worked with Alex for about a year before moving and I can’t praise her enough for the wonderful work she did with me. She is a literal angel. This is the only place that has ever really worked for me and I recommend it and Alex to everyone looking for some help.
