What a beautiful setting and perfect grounds for this very respectful site. The beauty and serenity of every corner of this cemetery absolutely evokes reverence and awe and gratitude. I am so grateful that we have this in New Mexico.

Our parents were both laid to rest at Fort Stanton on August 6, 2021. Months later, I still feel our family was so very blessed to have had Steve McConnell manage the process with the utmost professionalism and care. He also arranged to have the Marine Corps League, ZIA Detachment 850 perform the honors for our Dad, an Air Force veteran. It was that much more special, because at the end of the day, we knew our parents' final resting spot was going to be in the beautiful NM mountains -- those same mountains our parents enjoyed when alive.

We couldn't have asked for a better send-off for our parents. And their headstone is beautiful - perfect, and was completed in a timely manner just as Steve said it would be. Thank you, Steve and the Marine Corps Honor Guard for everything you all did to make a difficult time, manageable. We salute you all!

This cemetery has done a complete transformation since we buried my dad there in 2015. It is a beautiful place that I enjoy visiting. I really enjoyed the experience my daughter and I shared placing natural wreaths on the graves with the amazing staff and other visitors just before Christmas in 2020.

Steve offered my father wonderful accomodations for my mother's burial. Beautiful and serene.

The first time I was here at Ft Stanton I was on a camping trip and we rode up here to the cemetery gate on horseback.
That experience alone I was like wow this is so cool. And my immediate thought was wishing I could bury my father up here when he passes. He served in the Navy and in the Coast Guard during and after WWII.
Well sadly on July 22, 2022 he past at his home in Florida.

We brought my mother back to New Mexico with us. And we started to plan his burial up here in Ft Stanton. He had a great passion for horses. Being a rodeo stunt rider.
If he could’ve only known that he could be at his forever place, a place that we could ride our horses to…….wow. He would’ve cried!
That would absolutely have been the best thing he ever could’ve heard nearing the end of his life. Unfortunately, with all the devastation. At the time. I never did get to tell him my dream for him that until now would actually come true.
Hopefully by the fall of 2023. Photos to come

RIP my sweet dad!

It's been a few years since I visited, but it was a day to remember. Spent several hours there and remember the coins on the headstones paying respect to the fallen Seaman. Also remember headstones in a far corner of the Cemetery, which were German Merchant Marines who were captured and confined to that part of New Mexico. They either died while confined, or decided to stay in the U.S. after the war was over. The Captains headstone had his AND his wife's picture.
