Baine's Books & Coffee

I stopped by Baine’s Books & Coffee on my last day at Appomattox for Presidents’ Day weekend. I ordered a satisfying chicken pesto panini and a delicious hot chocolate from the café and browsed eclectic sections of historical biographies, works on faith/spirituality, and the classics. There’s a cute children’s section in the back and a second level too. I would love to visit again for an open mic night with a few friends!

I love supporting local/ small coffee shops! I really like the ambience here! And i like their location, downtown appomatox. So quiet and peaceful place. I love the frozen coffee that i got! Mocha frappe! You should try it guys!

What a gem. Such a cool space, perfect to stretch your legs, our toddler was entertained. Great book selection, coffee, tea and food. We enjoyed our chai and mocha, along with a scone and panini. Friendly and prompt service with a unique and artsy vibe.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere is perfect. I had a Makayla and it was delicious. The service is excellent and the people are very friendly. I highly recommend it for just a little wonderful place to sit down and get together or read a book!

Baines is one of my favorite places in this world. I've been going since I was a kid and spent a lot of afternoons there as a teen. The book selection is good for a used bookstore, the vinyl is decent, and the food and coffee are phenomenal. I pick up Baines coffee beans every time I come through town. Personally, their scones and the pasta salad are so good. Its one of the gems of Appomattox, and a visit for the cozy ambiance alone would be worth it. I'm probably biased, but I feel its one of the best coffee shops anywhere in Central Virginia.

Great cup of coffee. Huge selection of coffees and delicious looking, made from scratch food. Would love to see one or two egg free and gluten free selections on the menu. Such a comfortable place to sit and work. Loved the atmosphere. I’d love to have a day just to browse through their collection of books. Perfect place for a rainy day.

The bookstore/ coffee shop you want in your town. Eclectic display of books and "stuff". The barrista is a real barrista making real espresso and serving pastry and snacks. The atmosphere is major. Easy parking at the depot across the street. If I lived here I would live in Bainn's.

Great little shop. Drinks, food, and service are all fantastic. Very relaxing vibe.
Update: food and drinks continue to be great(full disclosure their espresso isn't my favorite but I'm certainly not a coffee connoisseur) and the service is always fantastic. Good place to get some work done too!

The cozy and quaint café vibes that Baine's gives off are a perfect way to lose track of time and spend part of your day in. The coffee is great and has many different flavors to choose from. The food is simple, but tasty. If you are looking for books and records....then this is the places for you! They have a decent collection of both albums and books!! And lets be honest....books, music, and coffee....a perfect trio! I highly recommend stopping by here and checking it out!

My favorite place in town, pleasant atmosphere, friendly people, amazing coffee and food, hosts an open mic every Thu. Bookstore feel but with coffee and music, a great combo.

Great coffee shop/ book store!! We drove an hour to bring our daughter for her birthday. It did not disappoint. Employees were super friendly and the coffee and atmosphere was great!!!

This place is the best! I spent several days in Scottsville on a trip recently and I found myself coming here every day after I discovered it. They have great drinks and also food options (including vegan baked goods), the staff is friendly, and it's a very cozy place to sit and read or write for a long time. The book selection is also great! It's a relatively small selection but they have some great pieces - I don't often buy many books from random small selections, but I left Baine's with three new books because I couldn't resist.

My family came in for my husband's college graduation and we wanted to show them Baine's Books and Coffee. They thought it was super cute and delicious! They have freshly squeezed lemonade which is amazing and all of their coffee is also very good! It's always a favorite coffee shop/bookstore of mine and I always tell people about them! Try a hot latte with almond flavoring and the quiche!

I love the old-timey feel of this place. Every time I walk in there I feel like I am being transported to a a different time and place. My kids and like to go there on Saturday mornings to get breakfast and play games. The quiches are excellent. The sausage egg and cheese is my favorite. It has like a pound of meat in every slice (j/k). Their coffee is outstanding. I think it's locally roasted and always tastes super fresh.

A very cozy place to drink coffee and enjoy a good book! It's in historic downtown Appamatox so going inside is definitely a blast to the past. It has a used bookstore inside that's clearly well-loved with an interesting assortment of older titles. Parking is easy right outside the shop on the one-way street. The coffee selection was pretty standard but had a few interesting ones like marshmallow lattes. Overall, it was a pleasant place to get a coffee or tea and has a home-y atmosphere. I did see a few posters about live music, but there was not any happening when I was there on a Tuesday morning so I can't say much about that.

Sigh. The stuff book shop dreams are made of. Nice staff, fantastic atmosphere, and a unique selection of books. Plenty of cozy spots to curl up in and enjoy a friend's company or a delicious cup of coffee.
