The Babcock House

If you want a warm and cozy place to escape your everyday life concerns the Babcock House is the place for you. The hosts give attention to the little details that make you feel welcome. The breakfast is delicious and abundant.

It was our anniversary dinner tonight and we were so pleased! We are new to the area and decided on your restaurant for our dinner. Everything was outstanding, the service, our waitress, the atmosphere and the food! We were never rushed through our meal and we felt so comfortable. I recommend this wonderful little hideaway to everyone that comes through or is a part of our beautiful little community! We will definitely be going back!

Lovely place! Excellent service. We had breakfast included in our stay. First course sautéed apples with cream and walnuts
Second course smoked sausage, herb roasted potatoes, toast and eggs cooked to order.
We loved our en-suite room and the balcony off the landing.
Definitely coming back!

Earlier review was just for the restaurant. But subsequently my wife and I stayed two nights over a weekend. We enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts during our stay. We could not be more pleased. Talia and Charles, the innkeepers, were gracious hosts and fabulous chefs. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We have family in nearby Lynchburg. But hotel prices in Lynchburg are much higher than this fabulous little B&B, making the drive to Appomattox well worth it.

Visited the restaurant for dinner. Food was sumptuous and very low priced considering the high quality. The dining room was lovely and the restaurant service was great.

We look forward to trying the lodging and having another meal at their restaurant.

Talia was fantastic. Very responsive and personable. Dinner and breakfast were 5 star quality and the Chef clearly has talent. Would definitely stay again! The Inn itself is very beautiful.

A delightful bed and breakfast. The owner and staff genuinely care about the quality of your stay. The house is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. My wife and i enjoyed a dinner while we were there that was quite tasty alongside a couple of fun drinks. If you are in Appomattox, this is the place to stay.

The epitome of southern hospitality! Authentic experience. Wholesome, genuine, caring, staff. A definite repeat stay as we travel between Baltimore and South Carolina.

The Babcock House far exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The owners and staff were welcoming and tended to our every need, which was not much because they had already thought of everything! The room, bed, sheets (so soft!) were comfortable, clean and spacious. Coffee/tea available 24/7 both upstairs and downstairs. We loved having a patio and porch to sit on with morning coffee and afternoon glass of wine. Wine and beer was available to purchase so we didn't need to go out or bring any in. Breakfast was amazing with fresh strawberries from their garden and a full hearty plate of eggs, sausage, home fries and toast. French press coffee at each table! The restaurant was amazing! When traveling, we never eat at the same place twice because we like to try local restaurants, but the food was so good the first night and so many excellent choices that we ate there both nights! We travel on motorcycles and after a long day of sightseeing we definitely appreciated not having to go out again. We will definitely go back again since we live only about 3 hours away and there are still so many items on the menu we haven't tried!

We have not stayed here because we are local, but this restaurant is the GEM of Appomattox.

Food- So unbelievably good. They use quality ingredients. We used to drive to Charlottesville when we wanted a date night, but once we discovered Babcock House, we will always pick them. There is not a bad item on the menu. Major compliments to the chef.

Service- all the waitresses are incredible! The service is wonderful.

We had a comfortable and relaxing stay on Saturday evening. Reserving the room and a table for dinner was easy and hassle-free. Communication was smooth and easy even when we increased our dinner reservation by 2. The owner was a wonderful host! She was attentive when needed and well organized. The dinner was delicious. Our party had a variety from rack of lamb to shrimp and grits and it was all on point. We went to a great play(Clue)put on by the local theater group, Wolfbane. The server was familiar with area happenings and asked if we were going to the show. The meal flowed great and allowed us to get there for the show on time. Great location central to Historical Appomattox, VA. A charming place, with a quaint and familial ambiance. The establishment employes local talent, so they represent small businesses well in this area. They have a diverse menu that appeals to a variety of discerning guests. The menu clearly identifies gluten free and vegan options. The staffed professionals are friendly and accommodating even to the most challenging of dining guests. Food was fairly marketed and had solid appeal to western dietary accustomed children and more worldly adults.
We would recommend making arrangements to dine here and soak up the appeal of refined country charm.

The restaurant has the best food!!! If you’re in the area you have to stop by! We love this place and always try to come when we are in town. Service is top notch and the owner is so sweet!

What a great bed & breakfast. The food was incredible! We arrived around 6 pm and didn't feel like leaving so we ordered dinner from their restaurant which is in the same building. It was so delicious. The room was comfortable and the included breakfast the next morning was just wonderful! The house was lovely and well decorated. As I wake up much earlier than my wife, I was pleased there was a comfortable parlor that I could use. Everyone was so friendly. We will certainly return the next time we go to Appomattox.

Absolutely fabulous. I grew up in Angus, Scotland and the black beef fillet steak mignon was superb. Highly recommend the restaurant as well as the rooms and service. Loved it all

We arrived at the Inn a bit travel weary and very hungry. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the inn was still serving dinner and that we had time to settle in before we ate.
Our meals were delicious and the service was fantastic. Our room had a sitting room and a private bath. It was comfortable and clean.
The inn keeper was very kind and attentive.

Had a wedding in Appomattox and we didnt feel like driving back to Farmville. Found this B&B online and set a reservation. We were greatly by a very friendly young lady who checked us in, and reviewed the property with us, helped us plan out our next few short hours in town, and then gave us our breakfast time options for the next morning. Room was spacious enough for even a longer visit, retained it's southern antique charm while still having modern accommodations. The bathroom was nicely updated. We did not get to enjoy dinner, however the breakfast the following morning was superb(can I buy that bacon by the slab?). Our interaction with Talia again the next morning was prompt and courteous. All in all, we will definitely book again for a weekend getaway.

This was my first time at a bed and breakfast. I may never stay in a hotel again! The staff is so warm and personable. The suite we were in was modern and yet cozy with a farmhouse feel...with a gas fireplace that made it my happy place during our stay. The food was nothing short of amazing!! They also have the most beautiful library (photos attached) and I'm a book lover so this was a huge bonus for me. Breakfast is included with your stay and it wasn't just coffee and donuts like at a regular hotel. No, honey. I had peaches in molasses with whipped cream and a ham omelet and every bite was deliciously satisfying! And...I left my silver pinkie ring and texted the Inn Keeper--because she gave us her number-- and she is mailing me back my ring. And when I told her I forgot to purchase a shirt, she offered to charge it to my card and mail it along with my ring. You can't get that kind of service at a hotel. We will definitely be back!

The Inn was very charming and quaint. The staff was extremely accommodating. The food was outstanding! I would come back just for a meal. Charles is a top notch chef and his creations are sensational!!! The prices are very affordable!
