Metter Welcome Center

It was closed when we went due to power outages, but we liked hanging out outside, there were picnic tables and lots of ducks and geese. Great stop if traveling with kids. Also a couple of good family friendly restaurants in the vicinity.

Staff very friendly and forthcoming. With information about visitors center, Ohio share items and localaria. Very interesting building. Visitors center has great rustic exterior with a wonderful view of lake behind the building. A very large selection of local Georgia products for sale. Large number of handouts and other literature for home Georgia and the local area.service

Can't say enough about how welcoming this center is to their visitors. Walking up to the porch that overlooks a beautiful pond filled with birds and wildlife says it all. You could rest here for days because of how comforting the whole place makes you feel. The ladies who work here are the sweetest and most helpful! They even sell Georgia Grown products you can purchase to take back to your loved ones. I purchased the Strawberry Lemonade Jam ! 😋 The ladies even let me take their photo SO I could remember Metter even better. Great places to eat close by off this Interstate 16 exit as well.

Meter ga. Wow! 🤩 This is truly a diamond along 16. It's got Guido's gardens, the beautiful tree lined town square. Rich history on every corner. It really is a gorgeous place, with a home town vibe. I guess 🤔 "Everything really is better in Meter.😍

You have to stop in when they're open. Ms. Jasmine is the sweetest host in all of Georgia. The inside shop is full of local products and a bunch of tasty snacks... and drinks are complimentary. Excellent place to stop and have lunch, sit on the back porch and watch the geese. Lots of grassy area for your dogs to run around and get some exercise and go to the bathroom.

Great stop on our way home from Saint Simon’s Island. We’d been searching on Google maps for a good picnic spot off the highway and didn’t see anything. We got off at this exit by chance and scored! Great setting with the lake, ducks, cranes and picnic tables. Also clean bathrooms, friendly staff at visitor center and some nice local products for sale.

Very friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Great place for souvenirs. When we stopped, they were open 10-4:30 Tuesday-Friday.

You have to stop in and browse the local Georgia Grown food products and other products. Great informative folks with endless travel information about this beautiful part of Georgia.

Always met with a warm welcome by greeter at this historic building - super clean with wrap around porch and local gift shop. Picnic area being improved & pond setting very tranquil. We always try to stop on way to St Marys.

Beautiful lake with picnic tables and family of ducks lined up by the shore. Nice, peaceful place to stop and have lunch.

We stopped in Metter Ga on our way through. We travel full time in our 40’ rv and we stopped for the night at the welcome center.
It was a wonderful night, quiet and got a good nights sleep. The shop is not open on sundays and mondays so we were able to sleep in and take off later the next day.
I also highly recommend the burlap and lace coffee bar just 5 minutes down the road!
It is a very cute local shop with great coffee!

Great stop! We would stop here again if we get back through this way!

The geese are spoiled here it's a regular stop for kids to come and bring and feed stale bread I'm always finding myself trying to get a good picture

Very charming historical place to stop. Monitored by friendly staff. A wealth of information and brochures about Georgia.

It was nice my Mom and I had lunch on Friday. We feed the ducks and geese a little windy but good.

This is a perfect pit stop location. It has a lovely little pond and friendly welcome center employees. There are also clean restrooms and a pretty little gift shop with various items including fresh local honey. So if you're driving and in the area this should be the place to stop, stay a minute, stretch your legs, get some food and have a picnic or try one of the restaurants on the pond.

A beautiful cabin with a covered porch that has rocking chairs looking out over a huge pond that is brimming with geese and ducks. The nice lady in the welcome center says that anyone can fish in the pond for free. There are picnic tables under the trees if you prefer and the restrooms are on the outside of the welcome center so that they are always accessible.

Take the Metter exit off I-95 for a nice rest area. It's by a lake and there are picnic tables and geese and Ducks everywhere. There are also several fast food places on the same exit. U can pick up food and go eat it there. My husband and I stopped for a cup of coffee and sat by the lake while we drink our coffee

Great lake & nice picnic areas. Much better than stopping at a state rest area.

Beautiful! Loved sitting in the rocking chairs with my daughter watching the geese swimming about the pond...was very relaxing 🤗😊🦆🐟🌻🌳
