Bought my Westy in Sep, drove across the country from FLA to AZ to get it. There aren’t very many VW/Subaru shops in FLA if any. Found Westy Motorwerks in a broad map search. BEST SHOP IN THE SOUTHEAST. These guys are the real deal - they’re honest, down to earth, and just really cool! My bus runs like brand new - couldn’t be happier and more confident behind the wheel of my 37 year old VW! This is my GO TO shop for anything Vanagon. You will not be disappointed - Wes, Nathan, Mike and the crew will take care of all your needs. They literally can do anything!

Westy Motorwerks has serviced my 73 Mercedes 280C several times when no one else would touch it. These guys really know the old Mercs and how to tune one with carbs. Great shop.

While twelve hundred miles from home and in Asheville to support my son after serious surgery, my 1986 VW Westy was in need of a new fuel pump. Called upon Wes and his crew for help. He was extremely helpful and got me in and back on the road within 48 hours! Great people, great service and very fair pricing. You can't go wrong here.... Thanks again guys!!!!

We've been proud owners of an '89 Westfalia for almost three years, and I quickly realized that these vans need to be serviced by people who genuinely know and love them. Being new to Asheville, I was kind of worried that I'd have trouble finding someone. However, I am SO happy that Wes and Nathan of Westy Motorwerks are here! Amazing place and even more amazing people. Came for a part and they kindly looked over my van and saw a problem and gratefully fixed it for me. They saved my trip and kept me safe on the road. I'm very grateful for their time and help. Hope to stop by again if I come back through the area. They are very talented and truly know their stuff when it comes to vw vans. Note: they have a lot of work and it is a bit of a wait but so worth it. I only got same day help because of the problem they saw that would have totaled my van and ruined my trip. Wes and Mike were amazing and fit me in for a quick fix on my 2000 VW Eurovan. Great price and very knowledgeable guys, highly recommend! (but as good mechanics they are busy!)

Really worked hard on short notice to solve my engine problem on my '78 VW bus. After quickly getting into the problem, Wes and his efficient crew found my broken timing gear on the cam shaft and then completely rebuilt the engine since it needed it. He often called me back as we kept track of the parts acquisitions and more. I sure am glad to have found an excellent VW repair shop in Western North Carolina. Thanks Wes.

Brought my '85 Vanagon to Wes and his crew after no one in Atlanta would work on it. They breathed life back into it and corrected a slew of long term issues that needed to be addressed. Clear communication on everything that was needed to bring it up to speed. It now drives like a totally different machine. Definitely worth the 3+ hour trip to see these guys. Will be back.

Wes did a fantastic job, in a timely manner. He more often than not was the one calling me with updates and progress. And at the end of the day; his prices are super reasonable. Especially for top quality parts.

Highly recommend this shop for any one. I have a vw turbo diesel, which is not always the easiest to work on, but Wes handled it like a pro!

Love these folks. They've been my mechanics for 4 yrs now because of their honesty, kindness and great work they do. They also take time to show me things on my car and explain them to me. No secrets. Also, I had an old 82 Mercedes, and Nathan is one of the few mechanics here in Asheville that knows how to work on those cars.

A few years back I meet the owner at another shop and heard he opened his own shop. I called and explained that my fuel injected 79 bus was running rough and the fumes were making me sick.
We set an appointment and as soon as he found what was wrong it was fixed and now my Bus runs great!!
The parts that were good he left alone and only did what was necessary, saving lots of money.
I got a follow up call from the owner making sure my Bus was running good.
It was worth it for me to make the trip!

I live in Georgia and have a Vanagon. Vanagons are a WONDERFUL vehicle that break! Unfortunately not many service facilities fully understand the mechanics and quirkiness of these vehicles. I've had to resort to purchasing the Bentley Service manual to do a lot of of the work and repairs on my vehicle by myself. Many times I do not have the expertise or correct tools to do the work. My automatic transmission failed a number of months ago and I decided to try to repair it myself. Unfortunately many of the components within the transmission are obsolete and are unavailable to someone who works on their own vehicles. I proceeded to repair the transmission anyway. After getting it all back together and driving it, my repair didn't last too long and failed. I knew I needed expert help but didn't know where to go. I looked through the VanAlert app on my phone to find Westy Motorwerks. To my surprise it was only 100 miles from my house. Wes and his team there are EXCEPTIONAL! He kept me posted on a regular basis as to the status of the repair. I was a little nervous when picking up the vehicle after the repairs, to drive it home because I had to drive through the mountains in an area where there was no cell service. I was concerned the van might fail in an area where I couldn't contact anyone. The van performed AMAZING! It ran and drove better than it ever has! It took the mountain passes in stride. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP! They are fair and know older VWs. Thank you Wes and your team!

My Food truck broke down and not only were they able to find me a tow truck last minute on a Sunday, but also at a discounted rate. The truck was towed to the shop and i had a phone call the next day letting me know what the problem was. They took care of it and recommended a few other small repairs that were more for preventative maintenance. By doing that, they totally proved that they really care and are conscientious guys that go the extra mile. I wont take my vehicles any where else from this point forward. Very knowledgable, affordable and just all around good people. Thanks guys!

I've had work done on my car more than once by these guys. They're honest, affordable, and they do solid work. Recent repairs have included brakes and coolant system on my VW Jetta. Highly recommended.

Amazing customer service. Didnt even want to charge me to diagnose my cars probs so I had to force money their way for their time. If u need any work on german/vw vehicles go here! I highly recommend.

Wes is the best! He is honest, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and charges a fair price. He has saved me hundreds of dollars over the Toyota dealership. I am so grateful for Wes! Highest recommendation.

Was having issues no one ever heard of with my 98 gti. Dealers wouldn't touch it. I find this shop on google, and wes tells me a part to try, he says this may be your problem, sure enough. Runs like new now, even better to know that a vw specialist is only a few hours up the road. If I ever need in shop service done to her I will be making the trip to let these guys take care of it, first class shop with great people
