This place is pretty impressive. One wouldn't know the fort was deactivated in 1946, most of the buildings are in good shape and were well maintained. The museum is very interesting too, lots of facts about the Lipan Indians and the black Seminoles who were guarding the frontier in the 1870s. This fort was used for German POWs during WWII and there is a painting left from Sebastian Kantner, an Afrika-Korps soldier who was a prisoner there.

What a wonderful experience we had at Ft. Clark Springs. The grand kids enjoyed the pool. We enjoyed the trails and the room was very clean. The front office experience went very smooth. Lori Sanchez made the check in and check out very easy. Her professionalism and positive attitude was superior. She took the time to answer all my questions concerning the places of interest to be seen. She went out of her way to make sure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. I travel many times due to my consulting business and I have to say my front office experience was one of the best due to Lori’s efforts. Definitely will come back.

My father was Regimental Sergeant Major, 5th Calvery Regiment, when WW2 started. Gen. Wainwright pulled him out and sent him to OCS. We lived there from 1933 to 1942. I have many fond menories during that time. Then Colonel Patton brought the first motorized vehicle on post, his private car. Scared the hell out of the horses !

Well set up museum. Walking through you see. The prison cells and the exhibits are clearly marked. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall a very good time and educational as well.
