Michael's Tavern & Steakhouse

Probably my new favorite place when I visit Michigan. The service is super professional and the employees know what goes in each dish. The steaks are cooked the way you like them. Their bread is delicious. Each meal came out hot. There were no mistakes. Atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. I would highly recommend.

Cannot believe I have never been here!!! Our whole experience was a 10 as soon as we pulled in the parking lot. Tried a few new apps I've never even heard of. One was the grilled cauliflower and the other was some sort of beet hummus. Amazing!!! My steak was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very kool. Our waitress was Riley and she knew the menu and helped us decide what we were going to eat. Not a single complaint and definitely will be back! Thank you again for the great service and the great food.

Michael’s never disappoints! I’ve been here before, always exceptional food and service. Honestly, the best staff/service I’ve ever received. We came in tonight for my birthday and they went above and beyond!! Ribeyes are always spot on, sushi is the best I’ve ever had with having lived all over, and again… best service ever! A big thank you to everyone at Michael’s for making my birthday extra special. We will definitely be back for all of our milestones!

Great experience at Michael's Tavern & Steakhouse. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Hoststand polite and well dressed. Food was fantastic. I can not wait to go back and try more menu items.

Staying near by at the state park and when staying someplace new, like to try find local restaurants. Food, service, and dessert all well with the price. We didn’t make a reservation, but was able to sit at the bar.

Had a wonderful experience here. The interior had very zen yet cozy feels. Loved the local photography that was showcased through the space. Got lucky that there was live music when we came in on a Wednesday night (which they do every Wednesday by the way) Had amazing fresh sushi, out of this world truffle lobster Mac and cheese and the crispiest Buffalo wings. Everything was homemade and fresh! Great cocktails and the service was top notch. Perfect place for a date night. Wish there was more local area wines available to order. Some of the best food in northern Michigan for sure! The chef, Michael and his team are to be recognized. So happy to have this new establishment in Indian River. Can’t wait to come back.

We visited for my wife's birthday. The service was excellent (thanx, Virginia!). The steaks were expertly prepared, properly cooked, tender and tasty. Prices were reasonable for this quality of food. The desserts were OK, but not great in flavor.

The ambiance of Michael's is classic northern Michigan, warm and very comfortable. Parking was easy. Every staffer we interacted with was polite and friendly. This is definitely on our "repeat" list!

I really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was really good and I loved the decor and ambiance. We ordered the New York Strip and 72 hour Short Rib which were delicious. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I tend to judge a place by their restrooms and they have a wonderful clean and well decorated bathroom :)

I’d heard about the restaurant and driven by before. We ate outside, early in the evening. The AC was pretty strong inside. We loved the privacy, airflow and temperature outside in the covered dining area. We were pleasantly surprised when a duo started performing at the ( unbeknownst to us) outdoor drinking garden.
So impressed with the menu, presentation and quality of the food we ordered. I love the rare+ option for my steak and the 6 oz was the perfect size for me.
It’s a bit of a drive but I loved not being surrounded by everyone I see every day in the summer.
It will be my go to for steaks from now on.

We’re SO glad we found this place last year, summer of ‘22. We made it back again last week for Labor Day weekend, and it was just as phenomenal! Love the open patio in the back, and the Silo bar, just all of it. My friend said her filet was the best she’d had, and we all loved all of our food. Indian River needed this, and it’s now our favorite! Every time we come north to enjoy the beloved Burt Lake, we WILL make sure to reserve a night here. (The sushi is top-notch as well, don’t sleep on that!)

We are vegan and vegetarian and the food was gourmet and spectacular drinks! What a gem in this little town. The service was fantastic as well from the manager to the server to the bartender. Everyone super friendly! The manager noticed I had dropped off my handicapped guy to go park and came & opened the door for him. He is on top of everything!

This place is amazing. The atmosphere, the food, the service!! All worth every penny!! Will definitely be back. Thank you to the owners and the entire staff!

An excellent experience all around! My wife and I visited Michael's for the first time on our anniversary after being told by many friends that we needed to check it out, and it did not disappoint!

this is a bit of a destination, and worth every mile… The sushi is out of this world a close second to the steaks. The most tender, perfectly seasoned and consistent every time we dine.

We popped in here on a whim while camping. What a great decision! We sat outside at the Silo bar, which was amazing! Friendly staff, friendly bargoers, good drinks and delicious food! We will for sure be back next time we're in the area.

A pleasant suprise! On the road, but in need of a nice meal we stumbled into this place. Expecting a standard "up north" establishment, we were blown away. The building is rustic beautiful, clean warm and welcoming. The staff is top notch! And someone in that building can cook! Not only was the food of high quality, but the flavors were perfect. Michael's has become my go to restaurant when driving north on I75.

The vegan dish was phenomenal! Unlike anything I’ve ever had before but I cleaned my plate! The truffle fries are also to die for! Great service, adorable rustic atmosphere, 10/10!

Loved the log structure and ambience. Nicely updated. Ordered steak. Strip steak done exceptionally well. A new wait staff snafus, but they acknowledged issue, and were friendly. Certainly a place to go in Northern Michigan.

We had such a wonderful experience dining here! My kids and I are vegan, we were completely taking care of and enjoyed their housemade noodles with all the veggies! We were in a large party of 13 and were all taken care of. They were timely with their service and our waitress was absolutely amazing! She was knowledgeable and friendly.

Our first time to Michael’s. My husband had the filet and I had the ribeye. They were both cooked to perfection. Cut like butter. Amazing flavor.
