Black Trumpet Bistro

Just. Wow.

This was not where we had intended on having dinner. But it was meant to be.

Food was respectfully priced. Quality of the food was excellent. The service was excellent. They were very busy for a Thursday night in December. So it took a little longer to get food. But it was well worth the wait.

I got one of their specials: a butternut squash ravioli that was amazing. The others got a special scallop dish and a cioppinni dish. Everything was cooked to perfection.

I got in before the evening rush without a reservation. They have an excellent menu. I enjoyed their mussels and their lasagna. Decent bar selection as well. Overall, it was a wonderful meal.

Food is great. I ordered the beet salad it was huge and delicious. Then the mare to mont; excellent! Three small filet and three large shrimp. This may be the best restaurant in Brookings. I also got a white margarita, sweet and delicious. A Proverb Cabernet excellent.

We can here for a late lunch. It was perfect! A nice small place with great atmosphere, excellent service, incredible food, and great cocktails. I have found my new favorite restaurant in Brookings. We had a great experience here. I highly recommend.

100% Best place to eat in Brookings. TAYLOR was so warm and kind. Food was Gordon Ramsay amazing! My husband grunted with each bite and went to heaven. Salad with creamy balsamic dressing was DELICIOUS. I didn't take pics until dessert!

We stopped here for a mid afternoon snack and we shared the pork sliders. It came with a nice salad that had a balsamic vinegar dressing. The sliders were exceptional and I highly recommend this for both an excellent salad and great sliders. Our device wasn’t perfect but it was plenty good and our server was friendly and efficient.

We walked in on a beautiful day, but it wasn’t busy, we almost left but were so happy we stayed! We tried the soup, it was hot, herby and very tasty. We also shared the hot Italian sandwich and salad, it was spicy, warm and so yummy. The salad was fresh spring greens tossed in their own balsamic vinaigrette which was so good we bought a bottle to take home! Oh, and a lemon drop because 👍 Would definitely recommend!

First time visiting and WOW! Our waitress was informative and delightful. Our food was great. We didn't feel rushed and that chocolate cake!!! I'm old I've had alot of chocolate cake but yours was THE BEST. Thank you for such a great experience

Ooh! Can't believe I forgot to write a review on this place.

One of the best meals during my 2 week stay in Brookings was at Black Trumpet! A beet salad with chicken, their fresh foccacia bread, and a glass of wine. I know, it sounds so simple, but this salad will turn a salad hater into a salad lover! This was a WONDERFUL meal.

On top of that, I truly enjoyed the entire staff here. Overall great experience, and I can't wait to get back later this month!

Ok, lunch was awesome, came back for dinner. Beef stroganoff was 👌 do NOT skip dessert. Creme Bruelee is out of this world 🌎 ✨

Had a wonderful dinner! Staff was amazing and makes you feel very comfortable from the first greeting! Husband had the steak... cooked to perfection for him, medium rare. His potatoes were great (I had some of his as well) and he loved the grilled zucchini! His steamer clams were in a wonderful white wine sauce, had a small hint of spice to it. I had the lasagna. It was a bit cheesy but overall taste was good. Could use more red sauce and that would have topped it off perfectly. Very nice place but don’t have to be all dressed up. It’s definitely a place we will come back to again next time we visit here!

Delicious local restaurant, the best meal hands down if you enjoy foodie selections. The pork belly sliders and pickled beet salad were amazing!

An absolute delight! All the way from the drink, appetizer, main and dessert was perfection. The meatballs, beef stroganoff and tiramisu are a must. Great atmosphere and staff. I will definitely be coming back.

So nice to have such a wonderful restaurant in town with fabulous food, drinks and staff. Will definitely return, would like to try everything on the menu.

Amazing atmosphere with super friendly staff. Seriously one of the best meals I have eaten. We had the escargot (buttery deliciousness), lasagna (excellent) and hands down the best gourmet Mac and cheese--the Mac & Chedda with sausage---I have ever had! Don't forget to enjoy some of the fresh baked bread and a drink.

Absolutely phenomenal! This was my second time dining at Black Trumpet Bistro (once in 2018 and again this past November 2022) and both times did not disappoint. The atmosphere is super cozy and even though it's a small space, you feel comfortable while dining. The staff are very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Fresh focaccia is given upon being seated, and everything was tasty. I especially loved the Beef Stroganoff! It was perfect with the goat cheese instead of the traditional sour cream base.

Super cute little bistro, the atmosphere was nice, they played great music, and the wait staff were all very sweet. I don't think I've ever had food served so quickly, I was amazed! The pasta dish we ordered was super unique and very good, the complimentary bread was delectable, and the caprese salad we ordered was super fresh and delicious! We ordered one of their special desserts, a lemon raspberry crème brulee, and WOW was it amazing!! One of the best desserts I've ever had, hands down!

My husband and I chose this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were more than happy. Excellent food, excellent server and great atmosphere. We found our new favorite spot . We highly recommend this place and look forward to many more meals here. Thank you Black Trumpet Bistro for making our time here memorable.

Really enjoyed this little Italian restaurant in Brookings. The food was delicious, and the service was great. I only wish they had better wine options to go with the menu.

The service, the atmosphere and the food were all spectacular. Black Trumpet is in a league of its own, and without question has to be one of the best dining establishments in the region.
