Riptide Cafe

TLDR; Best coffee and small breakfast bites on the island, and possibly also Washington.

We stopped by and got a few mochas, an avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich which were all so incredibly in terms of flavor that I wish this cafe was close to home and not a 2 hour drive and 1 hour ferry ride away. :(

I’ve never had better mocha anywhere in the state, and the flavors on their avocado toast are absolutely on point. To top it off, their prices are reasonable too!

Will be back, and this will always be my coffee place on Friday Harbor.

Best smoothies on the island! Great location and friendly staffs! They have indoor and outdoor sittings right by the pier, and have some cute gift collections!

The food is customizable and good (with great vegan options!), the service was friendly and fast, and the location is beautiful and enjoyable. I'm so glad I ended up here!

I came to Friday Harbor for a couple days this past summer and I will say, Riptide Cafe has to be one of the best spots in the town. I got breakfast here every morning and it was 10/10 every time. Lines tend to be a little long in the mornings but for me it was not a huge issue as my food came out relatively quickly. They have incredible smoothies and delicious breakfast sandwiches. Not a ton of seating inside but plenty outside with a gorgeous view of the docks right there! Overall I think this place is a wonderful spot, if you come to Friday Harbor make sure to give this place a visit.

No corn syrup flavorings, instead they use organic flavoring syrup for lattes with organic cane sugar. I was so thrilled!!

Excellent spiced hot chocolate (mocha latte, -2 shots, skim). Really good carmel macchiato. Welcoming and pleasant service. Like the way fern is drawn on foam.

Love this spot! Great coffee and great snacks.

I liked this place, it's really small but connected to a larger tourist information place without a wall. It has a little bar type space to sit inside if you want and there's plenty of tables outside. There's a great view of the harbor and the ferries, and the person who was working when I went there was super nice! For what it is this gets 5 stars from me.

Quick note for people looking for a place to write like I was; there is no internet and not really space to sit down inside with you drink to write the tables outside are really nice and comfortable but you have to deal with glare on the screen from being outside. So it's not great for writing but it is a really nice little place for a coffee drink and a great view.

My mind was blown by the concept of putting Madrona Smoked salt in the coffee. I am converted, I've seen the light: San Juan Island Madrona Smoked salt in all my coffee now!

Croissants are delicious and views are great!

Good espresso. We had their smoothies that you can get as bowls, clean ingredients with add-on options. Very tasty.

Great view of the harbor coupled with delicious Stumptown coffee. I'm visiting from out of town and everyone including the barista were very friendly. I highly recommend this spot for a morning cup of coffee- they also have breakfast sandwiches on a bagel or English muffin and have some baked goods. There are some nice tables to sit at outside the shop to take in views of the bay.

Best cold brew I could find on the island - also, friendly people and an unbeatable view.

Good spot! Just reopened for holiday season post covid. A well made cortado and good conversation with the barista with lots of funny nerd jokes. They rock a la marzazoco machine. An awesome water level spot to stroll down for coffee in the morning hour. Stop by!

These cinnamon rolls are amazing. Easily the best on the island. I don't drink coffee and come here just for their amazing cinnamon rolls. They are that good.
