The Great Northern Bar & Grill

We visit this bar every time we come to Montana. It keeps getting better and better! We enjoyed sandwiches for lunch-I had the veggie sandwich. Packed with veggies, my husband had a grilled cheese with mushrooms. It was fantastic. And, $2 large cans of Miller High Life. We liked it so much we bought some merch.:)

A busy, fun place with a good, old-school vibe. Lots of interesting locals. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The bartender was very busy but attentive once we ordered our first one. You order food at the back where it says "Groceries" and they bring it to you. I got the Northern Burger and fries which were yummy. My wife got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and salad. The wrap was dry as served, so be sure to ask for sauces when you order. The drinks were cheap, the food was reasonable. Also, they had $2 Rainier Tall Cans!!!

First time here and I am very impressed. The burgers are amazing and they have a great selection of beers on tap. I will definitely be back!

My husband and 16 year old Granddaughter went to the Great Northampton Bar and Grill. We did not eat there, it was for activities. It’s a large bar , always busy. We played ping pong, a shooting gallery, and shuffleboard. They had a band playing outside on their patio. The have two bars, always busy. Fun place to go.

Very nice outdoor patio. You order for abs drinks at the counter and they delivery it to your table. Fast service and family friendly. We got the veggie sandwich and jalapeno poppers and both were really good!

If you’re looking for just food, don’t be fooled by the vintage bar only look when you first enter. There are a number of tables and booths toward the back with, most often, plenty of seating.

I didn’t have any drinks, but for me, where Great Northern shines is with the food. First, they have had perfect health inspection ratings for almost all their recent reviews.

The staff member who helped me at the order area was very workable and helpful with dietary changes. I had a turkey sandwich with a side salad. The bread was fresh and soft. The turkey was very good and all the vegetables were fresh. The portions were a generous size.

Food or drinks, Great Northern is worth a stop.

In case you a wondering what happened to the sign of the old Frank Lloyd Wright that stood in Whitefish and was demolished in 2018 (why would you do that?), you can find it here at the bar. That’s why I went there in the first place but I stayed for the great food. Place is simply fantastic. Very down to earth, no table service. Prices are great, a juice T-Bone steak for less than $20. Burgers are fantastic as well. Place seems to attract a very friendly crowd, you could call the place family friendly. Went there very evening of my stay in Whitefish and if I ever go back there I certainly will visit the place again.

Awesome wings, i could stop there, but i have to add, great drinks, huge place with a ton if cool old signs. Covered outside with smoking allowed

Always such a great experience when we visit for lunch! I love everything I ever order. Try your luck on a slot machine, you might just win lunch money. Customer service is top notch!

Best place to visit in White Fish. Casual, laid back, feels so comfortable. Margaritas were the absolute best and the bartender was even better! Will be stopping in to see her again before her 6pm shift ends!

Best burger I have had in a long time. Even though it's very busy, our booth was quiet enough for us to carry on a conversation and enjoy the food. Very reasonable too!

Saw a cover band here on Saturday, tons of fun! Place was packed but service was still good and everyone was friendly!

The Great North was a fantastic pit stop while exploring Whitefish. Friendly bar staff and we got our food pretty quickly for it being around lunch. The fried pickles were crisp and yummy.
We asked our bartender for drink recommendations and she paired our drinks to us perfectly; giving me a local cider and my partner a rich Local IPA.

Me and my band played a show there, great energy, great people, just an all around good time. Next time I make the drive up to Montana I'll make my way back there

Honestly when you walk in..... it feels smells and looks like an average bar , BUT, you walk over to the back where all the food is served and you'll be pretty surprised at how good the food is. They got good pool tables and an outdoor patio to eat or chill at overall this place was great for the price and family friendly up until 9 PM or 10PM meaning kids underage can come for the food with the family.
