Where does one go for a dessert beer to watch Iowa State and Drake play in NCAA tournament games. The local brewery it is.

Beertender was very knowledgeable about there beer and was incredibly friendly! Taproom had plenty of space and was still pretty cozy. Highly recommend if your in the Des Moines area! Beer selection was also pretty good. There’s a BBQ place outback.

Good beers, good music, friendly service. Plus a nice outdoor area. You can get flights of 4 here.

Excellent local brewery with a constant stream of exciting new releases. Fruited sours and juicy NEIPAs stand out amongst exceptional classic beer styles. Location is amazing, as it backs to a walking trail and pond, sandwiched between Hy-Vee and the public library. Subtly excellent, with a relaxed atmosphere among great people.

This was our first visit to Brightside and it certainly won't be our last. We enjoy craft beers and it is fun to discover what a brewery has come up with. The first order was a flight of four. Three out of the four I'd order again (the fourth will be my secret. Decide for yourself what you like).

I am not a great fan of fruited beer, but Bright side has come up with recipes that still retain beerness without going heavily on the fruit.

Seating was plentiful when we were there (early Thursday evening). What it is like on other days and evenings, I cannot say. Never the less, it seemed like most of the people there were "Cheers" people-- you know-- where everybody knows your name. Perhaps that is because of the owners and brewers, Andrew and Molly, who who played cordial hosts to their guests.

Brightside is a bright spot in Altoona and on the craft beer scene. At only eleven months old but with 10 beers on tap with room for 12, a rotating menu, and some swag for sale, this cozy brewhouse seems destined to shine even brighter.

Relaxing patio, with great musics, shade, comfy chairs, and delicious beer! Highly recommend the Shoop Ba Doop, seltzer shandy!

A cozy but modern little establishment with some unique beers. I've only been here a few times, but I wish I lived closer, because this is a quiet treasure.

Picture this; in the area for Ragbrai and a bit off-trail. Caught loitering in-front of the brewery around 11:32 on a Wednesday and the door opened to inquire if I needed water or anything (as it was a scorching day).
Small conversation later and I was invited in during off-hours to sample brews while everyone inside went about prepping for the day and tomorrow morning's Ragbrai send-off festivities.
The hospitality was insane! The brews were amazing! The company was fantastic! 'Iowa Nice' is an understatement.

Brightside Aleworks has a fantastic location and amazing brews, definitely give them a try if you are in the area.

Quality beer made in-house by brewers who take pride in their craft. Owners, Molly & Andrew, are always happy to visit with customers and talk about their unique brews. They've got several "normal" type beers on-tap, but are always experimenting with new ingredients to make their recipes unique. They're also working with local food truck vendors to have food available as often as possible. Check 'em out!

For my 50th birthday I reserved their sidebar (room). I had 25 guests, plenty of room to sit. I was able to bring in food. Staff came in repeatedly during the evening to ask if we needed anything. Great service. Great drinks, including beer, hard cider and wine. I’d highly recommend.

Good beer, and a nice space to sit and have a beer or flight. Seem like good people too - the owner went way above and beyond to make it more than right when there was a minor (which was truly not a huge deal) carryout supply issue. Just example of classy and positive ownership who clearly cares about their customers' experience!

Phenomenal. Never had a bad beer here. The atmosphere is comfortable. The addition looks great from what I could see. The Superfruit Slammer may have been the best new brew to date! Keep up the great work!

I fell in love with the beer they had called Royal, it was amazing. I called and they are out of it, and wont have that beer for awhile they said. The lady on the phone informed they have a beer coming out Thursday which was yesterday, and said it's very similar to the royal beer I liked. I believe her name was Monica??? Either way she was very helpful, and told me about cloud slammer, best beer I have ever drank!!! I flipping love this places beer!! God dang it's good.

Love coming here. The beers on tap are always changing so there’s always something new as the seasons change. The place is well keep and clean. They offer a wide selection of board games to play at no charge. There’s a patio right by a pond with plenty of seating. Never had a bad experience, severs is always on point. Very friend and welcoming.

Great beers, excellent service, and fun environment. Service is always top notch!

This place really has fun with popular beer styles, and if you’re looking for somewhere to try something new and delicious, this is the place. Don’t worry if you like a traditional style beer, they usually have something to fit that need, too!

Haha, totally.
