Drew's Chocolates

The chocolate is delicious and I enjoyed learning about the history of the place! Pat is very passionate about what she does and it shows. Excellent service!! I’d highly recommend coming here, not only for the chocolate but for the experience.

I drive past every 6 months and I got some scarry news so on my way home I decided to stop for the first time. I'm so happy that I did. The guy that helped me was so awesome I bought my chocolate and ate my wonderful samples. But I would say the best part was talking to him. We cover 8 or 9 topics. It was what I needed and then I tried some of the chocolates that bought and WOW talk about melt in your mouth delicious. Anyway this is long enough I will be going back.

My Grandmother Grace Drew Harrison’s sister started Drew’s out of her house in 1927. Jason Adam’s (and his Mom) run the shop there now and still make the hand dipped chocolates with aplomb. They make and send thousands of chocolates this time of year, just the two of them. Our faves are sea salt chocolate caramels, but we love them all. We plan to order for Valentine’s Day! It’s worth calling!!

Love this place!!! A must stop when travelling the White Pole Road. An Iowa icon since 1927. Great assortment and selection of high quality chocolates. Reasonably priced.

The owner is great. The chocolates are made daily and taste scrumptious. This small shop has been in the Family since 1927.

Amazing stop for authentic, fork-dipped chocolate. Highly recommended 5-minute detour off the highway. We arrived shortly before Easter and loved the decorations. BTW, if the sign says they are open, they are open!

Went to Drew's last night for some chocolate. It was absolutely amazing! They were smiles and very friendly specially for someone who's been up since 3:00 in the morning making the chocolate by hand. The price is very comparable to other chocolate factories/stores in the Des Moines area. So maybe some people are forgetting that there's a 7% sales tax on the chocolate? Highly recommend and they have a customer in me for life.

This candy store is a true chocolate legacy. Have been going there since I was a child with my folks. That was 50 years ago. They now have a website you can order from.

Made a road trip on historic Hwy 6 to Dexter, IA today. A charming little store that’s been around since 1926! Hands down, the s’mores chocolate bar and chocolate fudge box were the best chocolates I’ve had in my life! I’m ordering Christmas chocolates gifts from here. So glad I found this place.

I can’t say enough about Jason ! So very helpful and courteous during the busy Christmas season. He went over and beyond to ensure the chocolates were shipped without any identifying company names as this was a special gift for my husband who moved from Iowa over 40 years ago and still remembers and loves Drew’s chocolate caramels! Provided a tracking number and even gift wrapped them. Sent a text with the photos to my phone! I absolutely love that people still do business like this and know how they are so appreciated to make such a memorable surprise for my husband!

Drew’s Chocolates is amazing! Their toffee is the best in the entire world. I placed a large order during one of their busiest times of year. Jason went above and beyond during the entire process to be sure everything was perfect, and it absolutely was perfect! Thank you!

Such a sweet experience. The owners are wonderful. I enjoyed a personalized service experience along with education on the benefits of real chocolate products. Must try the thin toffee, butterfinger, and milk chocolate caramels. So AMAZING! Can’t wait for my next visit.

Fun little pit stop while traveling, the lady was knowledgeable and informative, plus the chocolates were all so tasty!

Saw a sign on I-80 "CHOCOLATES" --followed accordingly and very glad I took this little detour! Business is out of the home located in a small town, family owned and operated for a number of generations. (since early 1900's?) Exactly what I look for!! But wait - there's more!! Pulled up and saw the sign also said CHOCOLATES & HOMEMADE/HANDCRAFTED ice cream ---I RAN to the door!! The home is adorable, clean-- love the decor very inviting! Walked down some stairs and was treated to a wonderful - old fashioned small town American treat! Was greeted and treated to some fantastic, fresh chocolate-covered toffee! EVERYTHING is handmade daily and natural ----sure was---you can taste it! Had the chocolate brownie ice cream and some chocolates. Thoroughly enjoyed ---another "plus" everything was NOT tooo sweet! Most places add too much sugar! Perfect! Wish there were more places like this! "Mom 'n Pops" are the heart of America! Grateful for Drews!

Our first time to visit Drew’s Chocolates. Everything we got is absolutely delicious! The woman who helped us was friendly and informative. We will be back!

For Valentine's Day we make a stop at Drew's. So much better to pick out the chocolates you love than to wait for someone to try and choose them for you. Or (heaven forbid) get them from somewhere else!
The candy is the best, period. We have been all over Iowa at the different candy shops and no one come close.

We wish the very best to the owner. Cancer is so vicious. But the lady with me was told she would die in less than a year from stage 3 breast cancer in 2003. She is still here and doing wonderful.
