This place was beautiful! The trails are so nice. We took the scenic Backbone trail, and it was fantastic. The trails and surrounding areas are pretty clean -- not much trash. There was a Pavillion type set up on the land that was pretty clean with a fireplace and several picnic tables. It would be great for a family gathering. Near the Pavillion I found a potential arrowhead as well, which was exciting! We will definitely be back to hike more and do some trout fishing soon!

Love all of the parks here in Iowa. Big or small they all offer a great insight into history, nature, or a quiet respite from every day business as usual. Great hiking and sites to see here. Spent some time tromping the trails and bird watching. Well worth your time to stop and check out the sites and sounds.

One of my favorite trails to visit in northeast Iowa! Pet-friendly, beautiful views, and lots of wildlife. Well-groomed trail that is perfect for all skill levels. A few different off-shoots of trails as well that make it great for those who want a little more incline. They also have a small petting zoo in the middle of the trail. Great for kids and adults alike! Also good for walking in the winter time.

I really enjoy this park especially during the fall season. The park seems much larger than it is due to the road system through it and the rugged scenery it offers multiple hills and valleys and has two streams running through it. The old railroad bed makes for a nice hike and if you like more rugged terrain the north side has a nice trail that hugs the hill side and at one point narrows to where you can see both streams at once. One on each side. Could use some better maintenance on the far north road but a nice peaceful place to relax and walk.

We love this State Park. Great fishing and hiking. Some day soon we plan to camp!! We also love the new sign and found many snow trillium in bloom.

This park is absolutely beautiful. Wooded trails, wood bridges, cliff like structures. Fabulous place to go and recharge.

Went on the scenic backbone trail which was like a tall skinny cliff that you walk across and there’s a 40ft cliff on either side towards the creek. Spectacular.

There was also a couple goats free roaming on the trail. They were very friendly even with my 3 year old daughter.

Quiet park, with several miles of trail following both the Otter and Glover streams that feature trout fishing. Very picturesque. Few amenities, but several shelters built by the CCC.

What an absolutely beautiful park! Not only is it really fun to cross over the water bridge in your vehicle but the towering trees are gorgeous, creeks winding through with plenty of fish, very quiet when we were here. There are also some shelters, outhouses and many different trails to explore, as well as various tucked-away fishing trails. We ate the rainbow trout we caught, was delicious! This park is in my top 3!

We go here often! We love the hiking trail its very flat and easy going but goes on a very long time. I also love that late spring every year is basically turns into a giant butterfly garden! And this year there are chickens on the trail but in years past there has been all kinds of friendly animals that live half way on the trail. Definitely a hidden gem!

Beautiful area for trout fishing either stream, walking trails, picnic tables and a cabin shelter.

Great fishing. The campground is at the top of the ridge, and the day use area is beautiful. The trails are nice. Nearby West Union has a bar, quaint restaurant, and beautiful town square with courthouse. A great palace to bring kids to have a picnic and play in the creek.

We enjoyed our spring visit with lots of wild flowers to be discovered in the quiet setting. The lack of a restroom may keep your stay short.

Lovely old RR trail converted for hiking/walking. Should have tennies or sturdy shoes. Otter Creek runs babbling along; may run into folks fishing. Today some were mushroom hunting.
