We enjoyed some of the best Chinese fare ever here. The service was slow, but the food was amazing and worth the wait. Reasonable pricing as well. I look forward to next time.

Food was excellent. The Sesame Chicken is a must! Their Egg Flower soup is very good too.

It's one of the best spots to come eat. Service can be slow if they are busy but well worth the wait to get food that is fresh, hot, and not already premade. You will always be greeted with a friendly smile and staff who make you feel welcome.

First time here and it was great! We ordered takeout and it took about 25 minutes or so. I had to wait for a short bit for them to make some more rice, but the rest of our food was fresh as well.
Portion sizes were large, so the prices fit well. The food was fresh and tasted great. We had general tsos chicken, vegetable lo mein, and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup could have been a touch spicier, but it was still good.
I love how they have extra packaging in the takeout bag because there's always a little spilling in the bag from other places.
The staff was very nice, and she tended well to the seated patrons. After they left, she took a decent amount of time to make sure their seating area was clean which was great.
Overall, the place was very clean and neatly decorated. It would be a nice place for a family dinner. There is a small buffet there as well. Can't wait to come back!

Pleasantly surprised at how well the food tasted...small town Chinese restaurants are generally hit or miss. The spicy food was actually spicy like it's supposed to be. Generous portions. Staff was very courteous. Had a slight issue but it was corrected as soon as they realized the mistake, so no worries there. Confused by waitress sharing her political opinions that were totally unprompted, but we laughed that off on the ride home. Will definitely go back. Overall extremely pleased.

I really enjoy this place. The taste is a little different than what I have learned to expect from first garden, Which I was a long time regular, but after my last experience there, this has become my new local Chinese choice.

Very good size portions, good spicy orange chicken, came out to my table piping hot. Small but mighty China Kitchen! Impressive results for a small restaurant. Buffet between 11am to 2 pm.

By far, it is the best Asian-American restaurant in Northeast Iowa.

The menu items are typical but taste well above average. Servers are friendly and down-to-earth. Decent value, quaint and no-frills interior, everything it ought to be. I'd go there every week if I lived closer.

I highly recommend going during their buffet hours.

Hidden little gem in West Union. The food was excellent, service was equally great, locally owned restaurant. A must stop if you are in the area!

This place is outstanding! Meals are reasonably priced for huge portions! Their buffet is smaller but always fresh and the service is tremendous! While West Union is hardly a destination for many people, the China Kitchen is certainly a place you must try!

Best Chinese food in West Union, and one of our family favorites when we visit. Many menu options, good service, reasonable prices, we always have leftovers, and they can make several dishes gluten free. We've been dining here for years and it's always good. They have take out too if desired.

Great experience everytime I've eaten for the past year. The staff tries hard to do a great job. Sometimes it's busy but I can understand why. The bathrooms and dining area is always very clean. I enjoy the buffet and dinner. There was a recent small increase in prices but they didn't go nearly as high as the prices have in bigger cities even though the smaller towns usually are hit the hardest during inflation.

The owners have kept up a great business for a long time and West Union is lucky to have them along.

ABSOLUTELY amazing. Servers were polite, informative about menu choices, prompt and courteous. Both the won ton soup and egg flower soup was fantastic. The appetizers were so good..I wanted to order more to take home. Then the entrees came out..they were fantastic..so fresh and delicious. One of the best Chinese resturants experience we have had in a long. Everything was great right down to the fortune cookie.

Let me start off by saying the only reason I took off a star is because of the lady that was serving yesterday (5/18/21). My table was served by a very nice young gentleman whose name was Ryan I believe. He was very courteous, polite, and more than helpful. During our lunch however, there were multiple times that this lady who was in charge "called out" Ryan in front of the whole restaurant. It was for minor grievances, ones that could have easily been addressed behind the counter in a courteous tone. I felt very bad for Ryan, as I myself have been in a position with poor management who don't know how to respect their employees.. It is very embarrassing to be talked down to infront of customers and yelled at for such minor mishaps. I have been in management positions as well, and a good supervisor knows that you treat your employees with respect and dignity!.. Hence, after eating I went up to the counter to address my concerns with the lady. I told her that it's not nice to call out coworkers in front of customers. She told me, "I'm his supervisor". As if it makes it okay to speak to other with disrespect, especially those you are suppose to help! She obviously does not think that what she did was wrong. And as a customer, I find it sad to think that management of China Kitchen thinks it's okay to treat their employees in this regard. I hope that upper management address her actions accordingly so that I can delete this portion of my review and give China Kitchen 5 stars that they otherwise deserve.

Now, concerning their food, which is what most people want to know of course, it is absolutely delicious! You get large portions for a very good price. They offer both lunch and dinner options depending on the time that you're there. Lunch options are served with three sides that are very filling, and all for less than $10. They also have very delicious vegetarian options, and know how to make tasty fried tofu. All in all, one of the best places in northeast Iowa to get tasty Chinese for an affordable price.

Fantastic food! Sometimes a longer wait than I anticipate, so order ahead if you think of it.

Heard about the China Kitchen from a friend who said they liked the food. We happened to be in the area on a Saturday during lunch and stopped in. They had a nice small buffet going or you could order off the menu. The three of us took the buffet. The food was delicious. I tried a little of everything and was impressed. Price was great and with the pop I ordered the three of us ate for $30. I'll definitely be back and might just make a special trip lol.
