Always accessible, mostly quiet. Fishing, boating, walking trails, picnic. Venue rental next to swimming beach. Large camping area-modern to tent. You might even get to play Bingo, watch a movie, or use the loading ramp for your kayak. Google wanted an update....there's water in the lake now. Playground in camping area. Modern to nicer pit restrooms in all area except top picnic area. Dogs can walk trails with you. Lots of picnic space. Two sheltered areas for rent but when not rented still can be used in picnic area. The modern one has indoor kitchen space that does need to be rented. Both have outdoor grills and picnic tables. The modern one has wheelchair accessible tables and modern restrooms.

Always loved visiting Viking Lake, right now the water level has been reduced to help the pan fish population. To many Blue Gill and other small fish that the Pan fish ie.... Bass, Crappie, Walleye, could not access. Lake will be back to normal levels in September. Definitely would recommend Visiting Viking Lake! 😁👍

One exception though. We had to wait almost 2hrs for someone to move off our site. They left and didn't get back for checkout. We did get compensated for our trouble and patience. We however recieved an extra day paid in full by the park for our inconvenience. Besides that, the park is Gorgeous and the BATHROOMS, SHOWERS(FREE) AND SITES are CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN AND IS VERY HUGE!!!!! Something Nebraska needs to take notes on

This place is absolutely beautiful! Lots of room for camping and plenty of mature trees for shade!! The primitive camping sites are a little hard to figure out. But nice sized lake, quiet ,and beautiful overall!

Great park. We got there after dark so couldn't see much but it looks like there is a lot of nice trails, beach, and lake. There is a restaurant building on-site but it was closed for the season. Tree frogs were hanging out in the park info shelter.

Quiet area, boat ramp was good. Easy to get boat in and out of water. Enough parking for about 20 trucks with trailers. Didn't catch much.

Wonderful price for electric and water it was 26 and the spots were shaded and roomy! The camp host was amazing and the only con was the cell reception wasn’t the best. But we enjoyed our time there and would return!

We loved it! We did tent camping there and there is LOTS of shade which made it more enjoyable. We did learn that the raccoons are very aggressive at times, one cut a hole in our tent to get at the food while we slept...so keep your food in the vehicle or locked cooler. Bathrooms were outstanding with hot showers! (we were really not expecting how hot they were, not adjustable so sometimes hot and sometimes just right). It is not far from a few small towns to replenish ice and other needs. Having an in camp ice machine might be a good future touch.

The lake is still down about 15-20 feet from being drained in 2019...but not really much they can do about that, Iowa is in the middle of a drought right now and just needs a few wet years to replenish.

Disappointed that the lake is down 6 feet and the sandy beach virtually non-existent, plus the concessions and bait & boat rental shop has been closed for a long time. BUT, it more than made up for it in large, flat campsites and exceptional shower/restroom facilities. Someone was always cleaning and everything looks well-cared for. Saw a lot of wildlife and nice vistas. If I had any suggestion it would be to drill a couple of small airholes at the base of every fire-ring, since they are all the taller, handicapped-accessible style.

All in all a wonderfully relaxing, quiet place to get away from the rat race of the big city, without having to travel too far from that big city!

Nice 6.7 mile hike around the lake. I passed the trail in the campground and had to go back so don't miss it if you go. Once you get through the campground its so quiet apart from the birds. I encountered one nature photographer the entire time I was on the east/north side of the lake. The water level is low right now for fish habitat but it makes the lake look a little different as the entire lake is surrounded by a little bit of grassland.

Beautiful Park. The Shower House/Bathrooms were outstanding. Clean. Very well maintained. Hot water. Great Pressure. The dump station on the top road leans to much to one side but it works. Camping Spots are nice and flat. Great State Park
