T J's Cafe

Visiting from Wisconsin and we had to get a bite to eat and this was probably one of the only places in town. Cute little place. Bigger then I thought. Not Too many people in there, but then again it was a Tuesday. Since it was taco Tuesday I had to get the nachos. Food was good. Nothing “out of this world” but we all enjoyed it and ate every bite. Waitress was pleasant. Had a good experience. If I’m ever here again I know we will definitely stop by.

Excellent food and service!
Had a tenderloin and fries. Perfectly cooked and breaded. Very tender and juicy.
Our waitress Cassie was excellent and very very pleasant.

Excellent food and service with reasonable prices. They treat an out of town visitor like a neighbor. Tenderloin sandwich was delicious. Pie was truly homemade.

Visiting my family here from Canada. Had dinner here and my meal was excellent. Will definitely stop in again next time I'm down

Best pork tenderloin I've ever had and the corn fritters are killer!!!!!

Great food. They say the tenderloin is the best in SW iowa. I'd have to say its the best in the state. My wife had the French Dip and she said she'd come back for it again, which is high praise coming from her. Great selection of items on the menu. Well worth the trip.

Went above and beyond to accommodate family coming from two hours away as a central meeting/ dining get together. Pork tenderloins are phenomenal as well as the rest of the food. Waitress was very personable and helpful.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a small town dining experience.

Considering the town is rather small this diner was huge! Great atmosphere, staff and locals! The food was amazing, my burger was served on sourdough bread, which made it even better plus they have curly fries on the menu! YUM!

My wife and I stopped in to grab a bite while we waited for our tour at the Axe Murder house. This place did not disappoint. I felt at home. The people in Villisca are really friendly, the waitress was super nice and the prices vs. Quality of food...AMAZING!!! It's tough to find a place that has BOTH great prices AND great food but TJ's pulled it off. We will definitely be going back! Thanks!

The Staff that was there, Cassie and Tony, made you feel like you were just part of the family. If we get down that way again we will definitely be stopping back in. The food was excellent, and the prices were low! When go there make sure your hungry, cause you will definitely get full, without emptying your wallet.

Delicious, clean, prompt and friendly service! We stopped after a basketball game on a Saturday. We enjoyed the henhouse burger and BBQ bacon cheeseburger; and of course cherry pie! We recommend you stop in to this clean small town cafe!

Stopped in here with a friend after touring the Axe Murder House a few streets down. I'm sure they get lots of tourists in here that come to tour the supposed haunted house. The quaint little town was a bit spooky but the diner was great and the food was tasty. Love small-town restaurants. They had an open kitchen concept so I could watch the guy making my Philly steak sandwich. Yummy!

After a long overnight at the Villisca Axe Murder House my two friends and I were in serious need of coffee and a warm breakfast. We found just that at TJ's Cafe. The moment we entered the cafe we were given a friendly greeting and fast service.
We ordered from the breakfast menu, all of which was delicious. Their coffee is great, especially straight black. The prices are very affordable and the portions are just right.
The atmosphere makes for a unique experience. The wood paneled walls are covered with patterns made of mirrors as well as fun, vintage signs. Our waitress was very friendly and made plenty of jokes, making our morning all the more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this little cafe!
