Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Saturday - 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
as is customary, the locals all turned to see who was coming in, and since we were strangers in these parts, continued to watch us. Eventually they settled back to their dinners. The cafe has a counter with stools and small tables set up around the perimeter of the room. Saying there was room for 50 diners would be a stretch here. We sat down and looked at the menu along with the “special” board.

A friendly woman started up a conversation with us and recommended the tenderloin, which is only served on Saturdays. She said she always gets it and it is really good. Anyway, the tenderloin arrived and I must say, I was overwhelmed. Firstly, I thought it was going to be beef.... my mistake, I just assumed it was beef. It was a breaded tenderloin, served on a bun with mayonnaise and lettuce. The tenderloin hung over the bun equal amounts on both sides, and was bigger than the plate itself. It was a good 12 inches long and 4 inches wide. It was delicious! I ate every last bite, except for the part I shared with my husband who had the chili and coleslaw.
We enjoyed a delightful meal, socializing with the two ladies at the table next to us as well as the waitress and cook.
If you are ever in Albia, Iowa, be sure to stop in at the Mainstreet Cafe. You wil not be disappointed.

Totally worth the drive! The owner, Naeem was very kind, checking on us personally through our meal and talking about how he started in the town.

I took my daughter and a friend there for lunch,,Birthday lunch! Let me tell you,,it was Amazing! Definately be our spot!

The chinese food is more grease than food and their burgers are made from pre made frozen patties. If you can eat somewhere else, I strongly recommend it.

Worst "Chinese" food we have ever ate! Save your money and make your own.
