The Sample Room Tavern

Amazing place to eat!! The atmosphere takes you back in time to another era. The restaurant is located in the basement of the Historic Midland Hotel and is an awe inspiring destination for local history. The Sample Room had a nice selection of whiskeys and and other drinks and the food was simply amazing! Fine dinning at its best in a relaxed setting. We chose the special which that night was prime rib loaded bake potatoes and sweet corn. The desserts we chose were a cream brûlée and a tiramisu cake. Simply AMAZING!!!

This out of the way place serves the best chicken fried steak tenders with cream gravy! Stephanie was an amazing server! It definitely a place to try out!!

We were at Wilson Lake and were tired of our camp food so we decided to check out the town of Wilson and get some take out. We picked The Sample Room Tavern and are glad we did! The food was great and employees were friendly. It’s located in a cool, historic building. We will definitely be back in the future!

Good food with a great small town atmosphere in a truly historic hotel. We always stay here when in the area & always have a great time, take a walk around the town to look at some of the great sites, there is even a phone booth which makes for great photos & right across the street from the worlds largest faberge egg.

Fantastic little place out of the way but full of stories. Friendly service and clean. Drinks were great.

Salmon & meatloaf are AH-MAZING!!! Husband loves the chicken fried steak. Looooooooooove their food! 😍 Cute restaurant, too! So thankful for this place!!

We had a very good dinner and the service was very good, too. There were a few menu items that were not available that we would have liked to try.

Followed up dinner with a visit to the Czech Egg
