Shady Grove Cabins

Really enjoyed my two night stay at Shany Grove! The room was plenty spacious for three people--I love that the bunk beds are full sized. Decor was fun and themed. The cabin was very clean and in good shape. It was nice to have in-room heat/cool control. The mini-fridge was great to have as well. The owner was friendly, welcoming and gave great tips on sights in the area. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in cabin #1 over Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was exceptionally clean (seriously, the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed!!) and the bed was very comfortable. We loved being able to sit outside on the porch and enjoy the weather. The highlight of our stay was spending the evening visiting with our host, Mary. The location is great for proximity to Glen Elder and it was nice to be able to come back to an air conditioned cabin. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area. We will definitely stay here again.

We LOVED our stay at Shady Grove. Due to COVID we wanted to stay in our own cabin and this place was perfect, plus check in was completely contact-free (check your cell phone for messages before arrival). The cabin (Bear) was definitely rustic and quirky, but completely comfortable and well appointed. This was one of the larger cabins and was perfect for two people and a dog ... nice refuge from a big rainstorm. It is absolutely not a standard hotel room - do not expect that! It is much more like staying in a vintage camp cabin. Note to next guests : You can move the table out from the wall and extend the leaves (underneath the ends) to make it easier to use.

I had an amazing experience at Shady Grove. First of all the cabins are comfortable, welcoming, and clean. The couple who runs the cabins are also extremely friendly and will do anything to make your stay better. In fact, my car got stuck in the mud outside of town and the owner drove 30 minutes to come and help me out. We had a big group of people, dogs included and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout the trip. Highly recommended staying here, and I will be returning.

Kip and Mary have the coolest cabins to stay in. It is definitely a neat and unique place!! Very clean cabins and tastefully decorated. Kip and Mary are nice and very accommodating hosts. Hard to find that type of personal touch when staying at a place anymore!

This was a fantastic place to stay. Our family of 4 was on our way to Colorado and chose to stay here for the night on our way. The cabin had 2 sets of bunk beds and provided plenty of space for our family. The town is pretty small, but had 2 good restaurants and grocery store. The cabins were very clean and roomy. I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip.

Came into Down's for a wedding. Stayed at the cabins for 4 days and loved it. I was in cabin 2, it had a motorcycle theme. Smartly decorated, cozy and clean. The beds are beyond comfortable. I always bring my own coffee maker so I wasn't disappointed when the room didn't have one. There is a small fridge and microwave. Pets are welcome. Wi-fi included with room. Located on 24 hwy, easy to find with very reasonable rates. The owner is a sweetheart and very accommodating. But be careful driving at night. Watch for deer.

Boy did my son and I get lucky with this place! We have a very big puppy and the owner was so accommodating for our stay this past week. She knew the best place to eat. There is free wifi and TV. The cabins are better than any hotel I have stayed at. We even had a mini fridge (and not the kind they bill you for per item)... a microwave, plenty of soap, shampoo..you name it. The owner was one of those kind of people you meet just a few times in life and make an instant connection with and friend for life. I HIGHLY recommend this place for your stay anywhere near this place. Great for hunters and families alike. Thank you so much for such a memorable stay!

An absolutely wonderful place to stay! A home away from home! We had our son's birthday here and it was great! The owners are fantastic people and go out of their way for you! Very relaxing...clean cabins! Great location from the lake. We will definitely be returning!😁

Awesome! We are in one of nine cabins. Each has its own personality. Men won't care, women and kids will go wild. With a large field adjacent to the cabins, it's a perfect place for everyone and their dogs to run off steam run. Great space for outdoor events. It's an affordable option for groups. Can't imagine a better place to be!! Thanks, Mary and Kip, for hosting our family weekend.

I can't say enough good things about Mary and Kip and the lodging at Shady Grove. These are some seriously cute and cozy cabins that have recently been refurbished and the hospitality is first class. Great location as a jumping off point for outdoor enthusiasts. My bride and I went kayaking and Kip even gave us great info as to where to access the Solomon river. We loved that it was located near Glen Elder Reservoir, The Geographic Center of the US, The World's Largest Ball of Twine, Nicodemus, The Garden of Eden on and on. Terrific people, terrific cabins, terrific location. Without a doubt we will be back.

Shady Grove is a fantasy that brings back many childhood memories. Each cabin is themed and are the perfect playhouse.

They are very clean and modern with LCD TV, microwave, refrigerator and updated bath fixtures.

I found the cabin to be very well insulated so road noise and outside temperatures were not an issue.

The family ownership was willing to go out of their way to make my visit as enjoyable as reasonable.

This is a place I will be staying at in the future.

Hunting cabins spacious enough for a road-trip family stay. Friendly, clean, and comfortable! I’d recommend to anyone passing through. Way better than a Super8. Say hi to the bunnies!

Great cabins and wonderful owners. We had a group of five people and three dogs and it was the perfect setting. Cabins were very clean and inviting. We will definitely be back.

Shady Grove was perfect for my family of five. The cabin was incredibly clean and comfortable. Easy to find and the owners were so sweet and helpful. We woke up to find our tire flat and the owner aired it up . This was a great help. Thank you for the wonderful stay. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Can't beat it! Kip and Mary accommodated our large group and 3 dogs for a long weekend. They went the extra mile when working with us, provided a grill, extra towels in the rain, and even came to pull us out of the mud while hunting one morning after a bad storm. You get way more than a bed at Shady Grove. Awesome spot for groups because the cabins don't share a wall with anyone and it gives you peace of mind when you're waking up early or staying up late. We look forward to seeing y'all soon!!

Mary is top notch. These little cabins are so cute. Being only minutes from the lake and having a nice relaxing place to come home to afterwards. And i mean it felt like home. They are so accommodating, even their pets love you. I will only stay at shady grove from now on anytime I'm in the area. Give them a try they wont disappoint you

The cabins and surrounding areas were kept clean, it is pet friendly, there is free WiFi, and the hosts are welcoming. The Big Buck Cabin was enjoyable to stay at, as all the cabins have their own theme. It’s a great place for a vacation.

Excellent place to stay!!! Very close to Glen Elder reservoir. Mary was super friendly and these cabins were extremely clean and neat. Was able to plug in boat at night to charge batteries right at our cabin. Going to Glen Elder for fishing or downs area for hunting stay here..

Super friendly proprietor. The cabins are about the same size as your average hotel room but very nicely outfitted and renovated. We're on #3, with twin beds. We chose this place on the recommendation of the local librarian. Good call! 10/10.
