This is the best lake in Kansas, catch amazing sunsets and the clear warm water will have you swimming all day! Huge fish and a family environment. Welcoming camp hosts and clean restrooms. They have good playgrounds and are pet friendly. We completed the rock town hike, one of the best I’ve done. Good bike trails as well!

Such a beautiful lake and campground. We stayed in Big Bluestem #96 with our 21' trailer. We had nice access to the lake down a rock ledge and great views. Our only complaint was lack of directional signage but nothing Google Maps didn't overcome. Will definitely be back.

WOW.... what an experience to visit a place where you can "hear" nature. So Special. For camping sites - VERY basic, but the facilties are good enough. No luxury, but if you like the real quiet places, this is a must to visit and camp for a few days. Camping, hiking , cycling and fishing..

One of the many surprises I found in Kansas. Beautiful lake and park. We camped overnight in the tent campsites. It was perfect. There was a small path from our campsite right down to the lake. Both my cat and dog lived our campsite. Lovely waking up and looking out the tent onto the water. I will visit again.

This state park/ campground is just off I 70 near towns of Wilson and Lucas, Kansas

This campground is a boater’s paradise. There’s a marina with boat as well as RV storage.
There are quite a few campground loops, each one named after a prairie grass which I thought was pretty cool. Many sites have electric and some have water. We were a couple sites away from a water pump, which was usable in spite of a low temp of 17. Lots of good views of the lake and a few sites are in a grove of trees. Gravel parking pads with a fire pit and picnic table at each site.
We really enjoyed the stark winter beauty and an amazing sunset as well as the quietness this time of year.

This was our second trip to Wilson Lake. It's quite a beautiful lake, and worth the 2 hour drive from Wichita. There are a ton of fish in this lake. Good for boating, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing when it's not a windy day. Trails are decently kept, restrooms are clean. Campsites are mostly clean. Grass was mowed down well. There are hiking trails and canoe/kayak rentals available.

This had to be one of my top places to stay at during our 5 week cross country trip. Clean park, out in the middle of Kansas, crystal clear lake water, which to me was a huge bonus, nice breeze, trees for shade or laying in a hammock. Black sky at night to watch the stars..I had such a great day at this lake, that we all overslept, so didn't get showers til our next stop, so I can't comment about showers or bathrooms. Also the rocks in the lake had such gorgeous coloring to them too, just a beautiful, magical place. My 3 kids loved it!! Get a waterfront site at this place, it's quiet and super clean too. Boats and jet skies welcomed too!! Check out my pictures, these were taken from my camping area, shame this place is only 19 hour drive from my house, but again, like this place so much I checked it out!

Beautiful lake and landscape! This is the bluest water I've seen in a Kansas lake. The sand is higher quality than the sand at any beach I've been to, aside from Siesta Key in Florida. I had no idea that Western Kansas was this beautiful. It is a stark and desolate beauty. It feels like the result of millions of years of terraforming Mars.

Great fishing! We targeted cats and stripers, and there are lots of healthy bait fish to feed these larger predators. We saw cats and stripers swelling to the surface even in the middle of the night. Caught a couple small blues right behind our campsite.

The rock city hiking trail was a gorgeous and fun hike. Only 3 miles, and the trail is well maintained. Some of the best landscape and most interesting geology I've seen in Kansas.

The mountain biking is AMAZING. We rode the hell loop and another that I forget the name of. The trail builders take full advantage of the elevation here. Creatively placed switchbacks and steep climbs followed by nice natural drops and downhill sections make these trails the BEST I have encountered in our state!

It's easy to joke that Kansas is a boring state to drive through. But when we saw this park and lake were only 10 minutes of I-70 we wanted to give it a shot. We're so glad we did. It was such a relaxing place. The lake is beautiful, and we found plenty of shade where we stopped. As an added bonus, the mountain biking trails here are fun and challenging, too. It was a great place to spend several hours at after several hours on the road.

I was blown away by the natural beauty of Wilson. The amazing sandstone bluffs & formations, the abundant and diverse flora, and the clean trash-free campgrounds, and the beautiful hiking trails are perfect. I will most definitely be back sooner than later.

Stopped on a Sunday afternoon to find a place to spend the night. Very nice electric campsites. Only 2 other RV'ers so it was very private. Level sites. Trails so my dogs could be walked.

It is camping folks, lots of wind in the prairie area of Kansas but it is beautiful, the kayaking is great, and the trails are wonderful. Storms at night, I would recommend shorter tents, tall tents tend to get destroyed. Our tents worked well others well, shorter tents are the best.

This is an absolutely beautiful area. When someone says that Kansas is boring, they just have not been to this area, the Flint Hills, Kanopolis State Park, Little Jerusalem Badlands, etc...

There are great trails here and the lake is very pretty.

Most of the trails have little to no shade and so the best time of year to come for hiking is going to be in the Spring or Fall.

Beautiful drive into the park. Well marked areas. Was nervous at the volume of campers at first but found a nice, easily accessible beach that allowed some peaceful water time. Facilities were as clean as I would’ve expected for a state park. Would definitely recommend

Great clean park with fantastic biking trails! Nice campsites on the water and great bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers! All for under $13 a night. If you have to drive across KS, you really should stop here

This is a beautiful State Park. Very affordable and friendly staff. You can back to the lake if you desire. Tent camping, and RV. We had a 32 ft ravel trailer. Some sites are shorter and some are longer. I would stay here again.

Great place for family reunion, fishing, camping, biking, hiking, and swimming. Clean campgrounds and helpful staff. Campsites have hookups and bathhouse. Also, make time to check out the local hidden treasures. Wilson, Lucas, and Luray have plenty of history, arts, and weekend specials to check out.

Loved the beauty while camping here, sunset over the lake, Coyotes howling, and a dome of brilliant stars above…
