Breckenridge MN City Hall

Very informative and helpful

If you rent, are in college, and aren't from here, you shouldn't consider moving to Breckenridge, MN. Wahpeton is more livable.

If you have a small business, do your research, as most small businesses in past 20 yrs. have closed, or moved to Wahpeton. The wealthy elite who run City of Breckenridge only make decisions if it is lucrative to themselves; despite positive benefits of their other opportunities for City/Wilkin Co. residents.

Also, the quality of PD changed with the new Police Chief & investigator. They now pick and choose what/if they will help crime victims. For example, for the exact same crime, they will only help their friends who are victims vs. anyone else. Even if you have established witnesses. They also protect repeat criminals, like they are grooming them. From what I've heard over many years, Wahpeton PD is not like this.

Breck also doesn't plow much in/after blizzards, & State of MN in Wilkin Co. isn't much better. Amazing when they know about 16K workers commute to/through Wahpeton for work each day.

Per State of MN, Breck also has some of the worst quality water, 2nd worst in the State for the highest lead concentration. Breck is OK with that, though, because they say that lead concentration "won't kill you". Worst quality water--even after they just received millions of tax $ to build their new Water Treatment plant.

Because many businesses have left, the decisions Breckenridge routinely makes continue to provide very poor quality of life here. Wahpeton is a much better choice, especially if you need to live close to work or college.
