Helds Island Access Conservation Area

Another well maintained beautiful Missouri Conservation access! Multiple Level, spaced apart individual campsites in full sun or shade. Clean pit toilet, boat ramp, and large parking area. Free 14-day camping permitted ! ONLY two complaints, and they are through fault of no one .. there is a persistent evil tent destroying nut throwing Raccoon there. He can open anything, and if he can't get into your car or tent, he will just destroy things to be a jerk. He didn't care that i was in my tent.. he came over time after time, scratching on it and messing with the zipper .. i threw things at him and kicked the tent walls, but he was not scared at all. Finally, i took everything and slept in my van.. i woke up, and he had literally bent or broken every single pole that held the tent up. The next night, I came back from the boat ramp, and he was pulling at the rubber trim around my van windows and clawing on the door handles .. and though it had no food on it, he even drug my folding chair 15 feet out into the woods.
Also ... there are an insane amount of ants ..

I did not realize it was only accessible by boat, so with three small children ready to swim, we had to go elsewhere. It is good if you have a boat

I wouldn't give it any stars I found most of the people in motor boats to have no manners to shore fishermen not a good place for me to put my Kayak in I will look for a better place on this river the next time
