Heifer Mel's Diner

Due to the virus, many places still haven't fully opened their doors to dining in, but this establishment has and I drove well around my route on my road trip to eat here.
Loved it. Walked right into the definition of a small town diner with plenty of choices. I wanted to try dessert but I was far too full from the large meal to eat any more.
I will eventually come back through here again to visit.

We were staying in Annapolis (not much for dining options) so drove out this way. Mel’s had good reviews but we were still skeptical. Continued on our way and came back after finding nothing else & we were SO glad we stopped. The food was some of the best of our entire vacation (And we continued on to pricey dining in lake of the ozarks) and it’s all SO cheap! They deserve to make more $$ on what they serve imo. Large portions of home cooked goodness! If you’re staying in the area, this is a must stop!
One con is that smoking is allowed inside which we did not like but realize this is still allowed in MO so we didn’t make a big deal about it

Amazing food! Great service, every time. This is the kind of place that's home as soon as you walk in. The ladies and family that run Heifer Mel's are excellent cooks, and good folks. Call ahead and order to go or bring the whole family and sit for a spell. I always bring family for Sunday dinner, the specials are affordable and the portions are healthy. The fried chicken is famous all the way to St Louis. Better than Hodaks in my opinion. Last time we went my 5 year old son was asleep before we arrived he woke up and declared "Oh my god mom this is the yummy yummy place!" They have something for everyone from burgers to shrimp and breakfast to steak and pie! Omg the pie!!! Go. Go now.

Always feel welcome and food is so plentiful if you go away hungry it's your own fault!! Homey feel and delicious. It's Des Arc' s own Whistle Stop like in Fried Green Tomatoes!!

Awesome service! Great country cooking & down home southern atmosphere. Loved eating here and can't wait to come here again.

Just had dinner there tonight. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. They do allow smoking inside, so if that bothers you....
But I would definitely go back!

I love this place, its like going to my grandma 's for Sunday dinner. The food is gooood and the homemade desserts are delicious!

The coconut cream pie and peach cobbler are both worth trying. Mel makes them herself and both are awesome.

The best hamburger I have ever eaten. All you people reading this really need to understand that and try one the best hamburger you will ever eat

Clean,home style cooking at a really fair price, kid's under 4 eat free with an adult, good daily specials
