Sitting Bull Burial Site and Memorial

A little memorial for a great spiritual leader. Please do not visit this sacred site if you consider the memorial a roadside attraction. Only come if you want to pay respect to Sitting Bull, or understand the sad history of Native Americans during a time their language and culture was oppressed by the US government. Such policy designed to promote assimilation to White culture (and more importantly to prevent tribal up-rising) is an incorrigible crime in my opinion. How is this country different from the colonial time when those fighting for freedom are also tyrants themselves?

A bucket list visit. Very quiet, somber and lonely place. I should think a man of his stature, leadership, spirituality and history deserves a much better resting place than this. Said a prayer and gave a tobacco offering to pay my respects.

Sunsets are amazing at this spot

Very sad place...and not just because of the subject matter. On the Standing Rock reservation it was in a blighted neighborhood. It has good information so I wouldn't say "don't go" but I wasn't expecting the atmosphere.
