For full transparency, this review is for Dr Bear's staff.

My son and I moved to the area. We were looking for a new family doctor and found Dr. Bear through Google search. and verified she was an in network doctor for my insurance.

I called the office for a new patient appointment as we needed our annual well exam. They said they would send the new patient paperwork to be completed. They were friendly and helpful at this time.

A week or so after my son's appointment we received a balance due of $17.68. I called with concerns because a well-exam should not cost anything. we get one fully covered one per year.

The staff said that because my son was over 18 she could not discuss his visit with me. I explain that I am aware of the privacy rules and that I am not inquiring about his visit just the charges, because he is covered under my insurance, which shows on the insurance card, which is paid by me via employer insurance.

So I put the office staff on speaker phone and asked my son to provide permission. We have done this in Texas with his doctors when needed with no issues. They would ask him if they could speak to your mom. he would give his permission and we would both remain on speaker phone for the call.

then the staff says this was not a well exam because my son got a prescription for something he spoke with the doctor about and then she asked me if my son talked to me about what he spoke with the doctor about. I said I am aware of most of my son's medical conditions. Then she says well he spoke to the doctor about more than ONE thing and did he tell me EVERYTHING he discussed? She kept asking over and over again and said I cannot discuss with you unless he told you everything. Her tone was so offensive that both my son and I looked at each other in shock of her audacity.

The way she made the comment was snarky and very unprofessional.

And getting a prescription (new or old/renewal) is very acceptable for a well exam. It does not void the well exam.

I was flabbergasted that she would speak in such a way in front of my son about his medical condition; shaming him publicly with what I assume was for his mental health treatment. The only prescription they called in was for his inhaler because he has asthma.

This office, who was supposed to protect my son's privacy, told me more than what should have been disclosed. Especially
considering I was only calling about a $17 charge that should not have been charged at all.

Shame on Dr. Bear's staff for treating my son in such a way, that he witnessed with his own ears, her staff talking about him like he should be shameful for a medical treatment.

We paid the $17 to be done with this office and found another doctor in the area.

be cautious about this practice. I feel like they are a bunch of gossipy judgmental people who have no empathy for their patients.

#1: before walking into our telehealth visit, she was complaining about another patient and I could hear her which is extremely unprofessional. Also, let’s not forget about HIPAA.
#2: my husband saw her last week and he said she was nice, patient, and informative. When she saw me, she seemed the complete opposite. I was reviewing reviews and all the good reviews are from men. All the bad reviews are from females. She definitely treats the woman patients differently-sexist…maybe?
#3: she prescribed a medication for my husband last week for an illness he had and when I was diagnosed the same illness, I asked about the medication. She said she cannot prescribe it to me because of my age, no severe dx, etc. I asked why was my husband was prescribed it then and she immediately said well it couldn’t be from our office. I informed her that it was at their office and that SHE was the person to prescribe it to him. Once she realized this, her demeanor really changed, she rolled her eyes at me, and rushed off the telehealth visit with me without even a goodbye.

I work in healthcare and it scares me that she somehow became a doctor when she shares inconsistent info and acted in such an unprofessional manner.

I suggest someone needs give her an in-service on HIPAA, professionalism, compassion, and how to provide consistent information and education to all of her patients.

Impossible to get an appointment when you NEED to be seen. Took 3 months to get in to see the doctor and then she moved practices and never advised us. So we had to wait to find out if she was going to “keep” us as a patient and got the run around. Finally told us they could see us in 4 months.

Rude and unprofessional, as you can see per other reviews. If you don’t care about how you are treated this is the office for you.

The lady who answers the is rude and unprofessional. If they got rid of her they would get a better review.
