Van's Country Table

What a wonderful time at Van’s after visiting Marengo Caves. The food was delicious but their vegetarian options were very limited. The decor and ambiance was very relaxing and homey. The apples were amazing.

Great little restaurant right by the caves. I had the broasted chicken special and it was perfectly done. The fried mushrooms and pinto beans were great as well. You won't break the bank here, as the prices are reasonable. Portions are modest, but probably about right if you plan to do some hiking or canoeing around the area afterwards.

We stopped here for dinner after touring the nearby cave. It’s a casual, family-friendly diner with easy access and plenty of parking. There were quite a few other customers, but not packed. We were greeted and seated quickly. The service was great and the restaurant was clean.
Savannah was our waitress and was amazing. We were having the standard casual small-talk waitress/customer conversation when she first came over, but she seemed genuinely interested in hearing about our road trip experiences, especially when learning we were from the Seattle area and had never had a breaded pork-tenderloin sandwich before.
The sandwiches were good and filling; I can see why it’s an Indiana favorite! The homemade Ranch dressing on our side salads was also really good. I asked for a side of tartar sauce to dip my fries in (Savannah had never heard of that before), and didn’t really like the flavor…it was sweet? Definitely not a Pacific NW tartar sauce. Everything else was great, though!
We were happy with our experience and will stop by if we’re ever in the area again.

Our favorite locally owned spot for a quick little night alone. Excellent food! The cod fish and cooked carrots are my favorite ❤

Food is always great, service not so much. The younger ladies do very well, but honestly some older rude waitresses. Prices are a little high.

I went with a group of friends from out of town and it was amazing! Our server was Savannah, she was so funny and a great server! The food was delicious😋

My very first time eating here. My friend and I came after a day kayaking at Cave Country Canoes. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and got the rhubarb & strawberry pie to go- it survived the ride home which is why it looks a mess. The chicken was perfect- tender and juicy. The fries were good as well. I had been looking all summer for strawberry rhubarb pie and it was perfect! Would recommend this place after a long day on the water since it is very close- about 5 miles.

The burgers and fries are great! The chicken sandwich and mushrooms are only okay. Would definitely eat there again.

We chose Van’s because it was so close to Marengo Cave and had good reviews. We were NOT disappointed. Small restaurant but good service. The western omelet was delicious and the biscuits were homemade and fresh. Hash brown portions are big. The credit card machine was down during our visit so we had to pay cash. Just be prepared since we were told the connection for the credit card machine isn’t very good.

Great chicken. Did I mention the chicken? Great place to get chicken. If you come here, I recommend the chicken. Don't be a chicken, come here and getcha sum chicken!

After visiting Marengo Caves, our group of five visited Van's County Table. The food, service, prices and atmosphere we're all great. I wish I could fix a cheese hamburger as good as theirs...delicious. The waffle fries with cheese was great...and chocolate shake too. Everyone enjoyed their meal. They accept credit card which is a plus. We'll gladly be back.

Food was very homey.Everything w as delicious.Coleslaw is a must try.
Worth stopping!

Great food, excellent service, and prices that can't be beaten. I ordered the special of the day, country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. Green beans, macaroni and cheese with a strawberry milkshake. All under $20 and made to perfection. If you're in the area and need a place to eat and hang out with a youthful crew in a old country setting this is the place.

Best Roadside Cafe.....ever! Their coleslaw is to die for..... along with their ribs. or their broasted chicken, or whatever is on the menu! It's just all so good. And the people are so kind and attentive. Whenever I have guests that come into town, I bring them to Van's. If it's a special celebration, I want to go to Van's. The atmosphere is so wonderful, you'll want to go too.

This place is excellent! Food is seasoned so well... A lot of love is put into all the food. The coleslaw is fantastic!

Excellent! I came down from Chicago to camp and kayak. We stopped here on a whim. Kenzie was such a great server. Our food was cooked to perfection. Only 3 or 4 people in the world do coleslaw right. This is one of those places. I will be back!

My goodness the biscuits are the best so light fluffy and crumbly. Also the strawberry rhubarb pie a la mode a must try for sure. Went here for breakfast the morning after canoeing was quickly seated and tended to. Just some good down to earth homestyle cookn loved it

Had a van load of nursing home residents hungry for ice cream, Van's Country Table came through.
Everyone loved the soft serve ice cream, and they accommodated our request to serve in cups w/o hesitation.
I never tried the food, I didn't go inside, my assistant did I liked the place.

If you want good mom-and-pop restaurant style food, this place has it. It is located in a very small town just outside of the Marengo Cave park. We enjoyed lunch at Van's after a cave tour.

We have enjoyed going to Vans for many years. The pies and slaw are excellent.
