Turkey Lake Restaurant & Tavern

If you’re looking for a random spot with good fish stop here. A few things you should know; it’s not a very big place, on the weekends it’s probably the busiest, from what I could tell there is one waitress. So go in knowing it might take a little bit. For us it wasn’t a big deal. I got the 4 piece fish dinner which comes with a salad, roll, and choice of one side. The salad pictured is the house salad with their house dressing, I’m not sure how to explain their dressing but it was good! Fish was excellent way more than what I needed. I could have gotten away with ordering the 2 piece meal. I would recommend stopping in and giving it a try if you’re looking for a good fish dinner!

We got carryout again Friday and it was everything we expected. The food and service was amazing as usual. The girl working the counter did great at managing the phone & customer service.

The fish here is excellent. It's very cozy and inviting here. I have heard there are new owners....they are doing a great job with the restaurant.

Small building. But we had 6 and no problem being seated. It was 4:30 on a Saturday. Food was good. The staff was working like crazy. So food was a little slow coming. We enjoyed our evening.

We drive from Bristol a couple times per month. The service and food are great! We also love the atmosphere there. It's a great destination to head to.

Went up to try their fish and it was delicious. Great service and very friendly.

One of my favorites. Travel almost a half an hour once a month to eat breaded fish and a side salad with their house dressing.

Hands down the best fish! Great service it may take a bit to get your food when they are busy but it's worth the wait! Also they have pie! We will definitely be back

Drove almost an hour twice from Battle creek, MI. Just to have their famous fish dishes. A must try if you're in the area. I love their home made tartar sauce. Almost tempted to take it home. Lol 😆

The burgers were AWESOME!!! Hubby had a regular cheeseburger with fries, and I had a mushroom and Swiss burger with fried mushrooms to make a basket... I kinda like mushrooms, lol. Oh, and the sandwich had sautéed onions on it as well, which I usually have to ask and pay for separately in most places. The service was friendly and the food was prepared quickly! I look forward to visiting again soon.

The staff is beyond friendly! They food is great! The fish is the best. Every time we drive up (from Texas) we ALWAYS eat here with family!

New owners are doing a great job, with the quality of food, they are putting out, the best food in years from this tavern. Keep it up please so many bad meals from here in the past. Worth for anyone to try or try again!

We dropped in on a Saturday, bring our first visit since the new owners took over. We were very impressed. The new featured fish bit baskets were huge and the recipes for the fish and salads have not changed. The food was hot and ready when we picked it up and the prices have even improved. Keep up the good work!

First time I we have ate here in years. Glad we gave it another try. The fish was outstanding as was all the food. Service was great. the new owner introduced himself to us and is a nice guy. I can see TLR becoming as popular and busy as it was in the past.

I live right down the road from this place and have been coming here, on occasion, my entire life! I love the people, love the service, and the food makes the experience out of this world. I'm not a fish eater but I could eat their fish sandwiches everyday for the rest of my life and never complain! And that tarter sauce....I could drink it! its a small town restaurant with a very big taste! If you have not tried it....you have not tasted the best of the best!

Updated from 3/22/2015 Visit: Got some fish sandwiches and tarter sauce to go and was pleased as always that the fish tasted the same. The fish tasted fresh as always and did not have that frozen and thawed taste to it. I am always amazed at how good this is, for the past 9 months I have been eating fish from "below standards" fast food and other restaurants and NOTHING compares to the fish here. Yes I did have to wait about 30-40 minutes for the food but it was WELL worth the wait. 5/5 starts still.

My family has a cottage on Big Turkey Lake and we've been coming here for the past 30+ years. The thing that makes the tavern so great is hands down the fish dinners and the fish sandwiches. And as amazing as the fish is.. the tarter sauce is even better, I spent the better part of a month trying to make a sauce that matched what is sold here, but failed in my every attempt. To say it is good is an injustice to this sauce, it is so great it should be classified as divine. Now I have hooked my wife and kids on the wonders of the Turkey Lake Tavern and as long as the building stands my family and future generations to come will return for the fish and sauce and the great memories it creates,

Thank you Turkey Lake Tavern for never changing and always coming through with a winning tradition. Just talking about the tarter sauce and fish makes my mouth water.
