Very small town. I would say at least 90% of the town is cohesively landscaped. For example mondo grass is used throughout, even as lawns.
The architecture is also cohesive and well maintained.
The people are friendly. We were caught in a downpour of rain, and a lady stopped in her golf cart to give us a lift to our street.

We're considering moving to America, and are touring small towns. There's hardly anything for sale in New Harmony.

Such a lovely little town! They had a craft show in the streets along Main street. It stretched several city blocks. It had several wonderful things to look at. We also got homemade banana ice cream! It was a treat!

The Indiana historic district and the town are beautiful. Most sites are outside. The gardens are unique designs of trees and shrubs and thus surprising. Area is walkable and bicycle friendly. Golf carts are available at the New Harmony Inn.

I was on my way to visit a friend in Indiana (first time in the state), and saw a sign stating 'historic district', and anything with the word historic is an immediate hard stop for me - usually when I pull off to follow those signs it's a historic marker or museum, or roadside plaque, etc. - so it's always a pleasant surprise when it's something more than that - and in this case I was floored, what a absolute gem of a place this is tucked away. I hadn't heard of it prior, or I would have certainly planned it out to visit. I wish I had more time to walk around and visit each of the shops and grab something to eat, etc. I did take a good amount of pictures that came out beautiful. The folks who live here live in a beautiful town. I plan on visiting again for sure, hands down.

Cool place to see. Several interesting shops and it always seems like there's a festival around. Plenty more to see around town with the parks and history.

Good festival with lots of handcrafted items for sale. The town is well preserved historically yet used by those who live there as well. The festival was really nice with historic buildings and history of the town on plaques all around town. Plenty of public places to see that also explain why the town was founded.

Very clean and WELL taken care of. The people take pride in everything. From the food to the products they sell. GREAT DAY TRIP. Also BEAUTIFUL bed and Breakfast. Found it last weekend. Had no idea it was there. The people on the front porch said "it's the only place to enjoy a quite retreat. And GREAT FOOD." SO COME ENJOY SOUTHERN INDIANA. Don't forget Westside Nut Festival first FULL weekend of October. Second biggest after Media Gru

New Harmony is my favorite historic town and my "go to" place when I want to wind down and enjoy the scenery. Make sure to visit the pond behind the New Harmony Inn for a wildlife treat and interesting sculptures including the giant chair.

Historic New Harmony Indiana has so much to offer if you are a history buff or nature lover. From a nature filled path along the Wabash River to beautifully landscaped homes and streets, historic tours and friendly locals makes this place a must experience destination. Antique Shops, Art Galleries and Eateries all owned by locals adds to the experience! Places you must not miss are the Antheneum Visitors Center, The Working Men's Institute and Library & Tillich Park. You will find scattered throughout New Harmony's Historic District Art and Sculpture. It's a favorite place of mine and when I discovered it, I made New Harmony my home and my husband and I started a business. It is a low stress place to live and work. #LetsGuide
