Nice place but you can climb on the top of the castle only on one tower

The Castle build by Memhet II is well preserved and larger than I expected, with a lot of defence mounds. As it stands in Eceabat I can say that this little village is wonderful.

Amazing castle and even prettier at night with the display lights flooding the castle walls. Some areas of castle floors were closed (june'23) due to refurbishment but plenty more to be seeing there and a lovely walk along sea front too. The rooms were alittle warm inside and humid too but air con is in the rooms but could be cooler.
Lovely statues mounted here and there along top of castle walls as if keeping a look out over you and castle.
Well worth seeing if in the area.

A historical castle with a beautiful view should be visited with the family to enjoy its charm. Additionally, you can indulge in a meal from the nearby fishermen and relish the ambiance.

Impresive castle!!! Well done maintenaned!!! Entry fee 60 TRY for a family of 4 ( 2 adults, 1 child 7 years of age, and one child 3 years of age). Nice place, I'm happy a had the chance to see it!!

As permanent travelers for the last 5 years I have lost count of how many castles we have been through, but this is now number one on both of our lists. The first word that came to mind was massive!
The architecture and design are wonderful, but make sure you go through the building in the center and you can climb up four or five stories! A definite must visit location

Magnificent castle, its easily accessible, a few minutes walk from Kilitbahir Port. There's a visitor fee of 30tl (October 2022), or you can use the Museum Card (if its valid for museums around the country).

Entry ticket must, museum card not allowed.. early visit would be better.. very near from Kilitbahir ferry..

The castle looked elegant and sturdy. There were statues erected here and there, so you could see how the soldiers fought inside the castle at that time.

Unique, a must see. When you are there , it is even more impressive .Huge, with so much story and tech, working together, future and past all in one.

Beautiful, I recommend to take a audio tour, also take a good hiking shoes because there a a lots of stairs in the castle. It's not a place that u want to walk by, take your time when you visit this castle and the area.

Ever since arriving into Canakkale I could see this B-E-A-utiful castle taunting me over the water 🏰💦🚣‍♂

Today this castle got explored! Super cool little bastion walls all over the place and even a few World War I bunkers just outside of the castle walls 🤩

In 1463, Fatih Sultan Mehmet constructed two castles to control the straits at their narrowest point. Kilitbahir Castle is a fortress on the west side of the Dardanelles,located on the opposite of the city of Çanakkale. The corresponding fortress (Kale-i Sultaniye) is located in Çanakkale.

Magnificent structure, constructed by Fatih Sultan Mehmet. It is one of the most esthetic and unique heritage of Ottoman Era. The tour starts from Sarı Kule and continues to inner castle section covered by great walls that look like a clover from the top. Within a walking distance from Kilitbahir Ferry Pier and Namazgah Bastion which is located just few steps away from the castle is worth to visit too.

Kilitbahir Fortress is one of the most important defense facilities built throughout the Ottoman Empire. They call it the lock of the sea. After its construction, the access of foreign fleets to the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea was completely stopped. The fortress is completely restored. Entrance is very good price.

Guys you must visit this castle especially if you have special interest in Ottomon empire. And early years of Turkish Republic.

Words not enough to describe how amazing this place. The castle was build during Mehmet II in 1463. Then, The “Sarı Kule” was constructed in addition to “Kilitbahir castle” to add extra protection. Last but not least, The “Namazgah Tabyası” was build during Abdul Hamid II to secure and increase the devastation at the narrowest point of Dardanelles.

Another interesting point that makes this castle more interesting is hosting “Piri Reis” who is the creator of the first world mad (prepared in 1513 during while his stay in the castle”

Be ready to take 2 to 3 hours of yours to explore and go back to the past while wandering around the castle.

Very well restored. Must be open at night too with lighting.

Amazing old castle with so much history from Ottomans through to WW1… pity some of the top levels and rooftops closed when we went, otherwise great.
