The trail starts with a gentle ascent towards a hilltop. As you walk on the trail, you will come across a few information stations about the area's flora and the fauna. The local tribe villagers will be available to guide and assist you throughout the trail. This is a moderately challenging trail with some steep climbs and breathtaking waterfalls. If you're fortunate, you may encounter some monkeys and other wildlife that will enhance your hiking experience.

Beautiful 1 and a half hour jungle trail that reaches a coffee plantation with options to buy and taste different locally produced and roasted coffee types and teas. Make sure you get a guide through the jungle to keep you safe from dangerous animals. There are venomous snakes in the area such as the green snake, we found 2 of them along the path. One bite from these critters might get you in serious trouble.

Highly recommended to follow tour to support highland Karen tribe.
Pleasant trail about 3.3km suitable for beginner too as each group are lead by local Karen Tribe.
Each visitor is provided with walking stick made from bamboo.
A few steep downhill and pass by 2 very majestic waterfall.
The trail also pass by paddy field and visit the Karen tribe’s coffee field.
Normally it takes 1.5hrs to complete this very beatific walk in the forest.
We saw green snake, spiders, mushrooms & many wild bamboo.

The trail is beautifil. You will need to pay 220 baht for a guide. Not all of them can speak English so you must be lucky and be assigned the one who can speak at least a bit. Our elder lady couldn't speak at all. Because the local guides can tell you a lot about plants and things there. At the end, there is a coffee stop. On the way you can see wild coffee and cinamon trees. The landscape and waterfall was stunning. Sadly, the rice fields are dry during summer season.

I try and do this walk each time I am in the Chiang Mai area
It is a great, reasonably safe way to experience the jungle, Karen farms with rice fields, various fruits and coffee etc.
There is some wildlife to see, snakes, birds, and maybe a gibbon, but I haven't seen one yet.
An enjoyable couple of hours, accompanied by a Karen guide, who points various things out along the way
Coffee at the end in the local village

The trail was not difficult and was around 3km. It was scenic and the local guide was good in pointing out various things along the way. The waterfall was really beautiful.

This was spectacular and the best up close waterfall and rice paddies I’ve seen in Thailand. The tribal village at the end has been there since the 1800s and wonderful to see and sample their traditional tea and coffee. The guide is worth it, although little English, he saw 2 snakes and 3 spiders I never would have! Cash only 220THB entry with guide and 10 minute 50THB pick-up truck ride back to the start at the end - amazing experience.

The Pha Dok Sieo Nature Trail requires the company of a local guide (priced at 200 Baht per group in October 2023). My boyfriend and I had an exceptional experience with an incredibly friendly guide who introduced us to the lush natural surroundings and highlighted the practical uses of the local flora 🌱
Opting for a leisurely walk, we traversed the entire trail, encountering two enchanting waterfalls and a rice field. Our journey ended in the small Pga-gan Yaw village, where we enjoyed the local coffee and tea☕
When it is time to return to the trail's starting point, a local villager takes you back on their motorbike (at 50 Baht per person) or you have the option of a car ride (priced at 150 Baht per group).

Must take this hike if you are in Ithanom. We are a couple of 60 plus and did the hike in 3 hours plus. Amazing to see how the area was transformed by the previous King from poppy fields to rice fields and chrysanthemums. A guide is compulsory and it is worth the 200 baht and we top it up. She is native Karen hill tribe. The trail is largely downhill and gets very muddy when it rains which is often. There are waterfalls and interpretative boards which explains the various plants on the trail. At the end of the trail, we get invited to a Karen family ‘hut’ for free coffee which they grow. Cannot ask for more for a morning’s experience.

It is very interesting place, calm, cool, green, beautiful water fall, and fresh air. We can walk two and half hours from Pha Dok Sieo Nature Trail to coffee and tea cafe farm, and you can find the original people who make shirt. When we arrive the cafe, we drink some various tea and coffee. There are green, yellow, and red tea. I think it is better using travel package from Chiang Mai city because they send and pick up in different place.

It’s an easy trail for beginners with breathtaking views, a waterfall and a rice paddy field. Although it ends with a touristy village, which depends on your tour agent, the experience is worth a try. At the gate, you have to book a local/villager to guide you so it’s hard to go off trail if that’s what you’re worrying.

very nice walk in nature, the limited English of my guide for the explanations were quickly forgotten thanks to his kindness

I highly suggest you set aside a couple of hours for this nature trail hike. The waterfalls are beautiful, the nature trail is spectacular, and the local guide makes it extra special. Bring a couple hundred extra baht to buy coffee at the end and a motorbike ride back to your car. And definitely bring a camera. Good shoes for hiking are suggested. Some of the trail is easy, some is not.

Amazing hour/ish hike, the tour guide was lovely and the waterfalls were amazing. Very cool being so in nature. We were the only ones around during our walk and it was super peaceful. You have to hire a guide for the hike which is 220thb. NOTE - you can't walk both ways unless you pay another 220thb. You can either drive down to the ending point (village) and leave your bike there and ask for a lift up to the start (50thb per person on motorbike or 150thb for a car), and walk down to your bike, or do it the other way, leave your bike at the top and ask for a lift down to walk the opposite direction. Walking UP from the village however is a lot harder as it's up hill - so recommend walking down from the start and leaving your bike at the village! :)

Absolutely amazing. A bit uphill at the beginning of the trail but then you might be overwhelmed by the beauty caught on the way. Many fab waterfalls, springs that you can feel fresh and cold water by hand and enjoy some juicy strawberries when passing strawberry farm up there. Doing a hiking here is really a stunning memory for me and I wanna do it again next time.

'Pha Dok Siew Waterfall' (น้ำตกผาดอกเสี้ยว) is a nature trail total distance of 2.6 km that will take around 2.5 hrs to complete. The path start with the steep hills, beautiful waterfall, and traditional cultivated fields.

Consists of total 10 stations of study point such as ; Reforestation, Lianas, Head watershed area, Hill evergreen forest, Banyan Tree, Pha Dok Siew cliff, Rice terrace, Coffee bean cultivation

The local guide is well-educated and know the area well, so it quite made the trek enjoyable as he interpreted all his experiences into a story, the information board also available along the route. The trail rated as a moderated trekking level (and this all depends on your fitness condition as well)

The path start with the 'pine tree forest' leads to a 'marigold greenhouse' down the hill, we trekked along the river stream to reach a 'magnificent waterfall of Pha Dok Siew' that remarked as the highlight of the trip!

It was impressive, the water stream was so high at that time (the swimming area is located in the lower level of the waterfall, however the guide will told if it safe for you to swim especially in the heavy rainfall season)

We continued trekking up hill to see 'rice terrace' that still remains one of the most important farming for local people here, the trail leads to the history of 'coffee bean farming' forest and wrap up the trip with a cup of coffee drip by the locals at White-Karen village!

Great walk with our guide, La. She was very kind and informative. She showed us all the trees and animals that lived in the area. Then she took us to the Karen village where we had a nice cup of tea and coffee. The shop there has the best salty banana chips!

Great 90 minute Trek. 220 BHT is not much at all (don’t get why some people are complaining!). Lots of nature to spot. We completed it with our 6 and 7 year old. Really enjoyed the fresh complimentary coffee at the end.
