We loved this little guest house. We stayed there for three nights. It’s a family owned guest house and everyday the owners were there during breakfast to make sure everything was good. Staff are really friendly. Rooms are clean and well ventilated. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is good (bread, eggs and coffee). The location is excellent as you are next to the bus terminal and night bazaar. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay.

Lovely cozy guesthouse. The rooms and whole premises are neat & clean and well maintained. It’s just 5-10mins walk from city centre and night bazaar. For people looking for Indian food, it’s just 5mins walk from the only Indian restaurant in the city. Owners are always available at the breakfast table to greet you. We really enjoyed the stay and the hospitality offered by every staff and the owners.

I will rate this beautiful stay place in Chiang Rai more than 5 stars also.
Owners knows English which is a great help.
Plus it's very beautiful and cozy little corner just 5 mins walk from the city centre .
In breakfast, you can make yourself coffee, toast bread and have with butter or jam, fresh orange juice, and make eggs however you like.
Welcoming host and they even let us early check-in since our flight was rescheduled and gave us free breakfast for that day as well. Like who does that. Very generous folks.
In room there was everything kept from chair table, shampo, soap, glasses, cups and saucers, clean blankets, super clean and soft towel, hair dryers, kettle, 2 complimentary water bottles and fridge too. Very neat and comfort bed. This place is surrounded by good cafes too. Easy to rent bike from a near by place too. A go to hotel for me now.
Also had wifi at every place.

Great owner who speaks English and has so many suggestions on places to go. Breakfast everyday is included - coffee, eggs, bread, butter, jam. Easy walking to main bus and shops. Maybe 10 mins. Close to night markets. Very quiet area too for sleeping.

The stay had an overall great atmosphere and design. Cozy furniture, cute parrots, located in a good area to explore the city. The Night Bazaar is just a couple of minutes away on foot. The room is spacious and you can take a shower without flooding the toilette because they have a small step on the floor to prevent the water reaching out. They offer a simple but most welcome self-serviced breakfast and help you with organizing day trips. Friendly and helpful staff. There's no safe in the room but the reception can take care of your luggage if you have to check out earlier than your departure.

We would suggest labeling the shampoo and the shower gel, as it was pretty hard to tell them apart. Also, if you could add some tea filters to the breakfast offer, it'd be lovely!

Cons: The quality of your stay may depend on your neighbors, as the walls are really thin, so you can hear what they watch on the TV and what they do. There was a rather uncomfortable odor in the toilette that we couldn't get rid of.

Such a great place to stay! Room is big, clean and has everything you need. Even a hair blower 😉 and your own balcony with a view on the sunset. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Location is good, safe and close to the night market and clock tower. In the morning they surve fresh coffee, toast with butter and jam and you can even cook your own egg. They also organize tours but we didn't do it so can't say anything about this.

This guesthouse is truly fantastic and I miss it so much. All the good reviews are so true. It is located near the bus terminal in a quiet neighborhood (sometimes it's even quieter during the day than at night when your door neighbors come home). I had a big spacious room at the last floor with a generous balcony. Furniture is modern and very clean (they clean the room every day). You get 2 free bottles of water per day. You also have free breakfast buffet offered every morning in a lovely garden with a fish pond. The day-trips I bought from them we're good, affordable, and high-quality. The staff speaks very good English, they are lovely and helpful, and they have even gifted me a beautiful sun hat when I left. It was one of the few places in Thailand where I could rest well overnight (without traffic noise), so don't hesitate to book here.

The receptionist was good in English, which was a big positive for us since language gap was a big issue in Thailand being an outsider managing with Savadhika and Kab Kun Kap. Rooms were extremely neat with a balcony as well. Breakfast was decent and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Walkable from Clock tower and Seven Eleven store and you have bike rentals as well nearby. Located in a calm area with no traffic noise.

Very comfortable small hotel. Rooms are bright and spacious, with good beds, a wooden armchair, desk and stool, big balconies with stools and a drying rack for your clothes, big fridge with freezer, hairdryer and kettle (they don't provide tea or coffee in the rooms, but will happily loan you a mug if you have your own teabags). Everything is clean, and the wifi is fast. Good central (but quiet) location. Popular at weekends, even in rainy season, so wise to prebook.

At this price bracket, this is five stars. Clean, good sized rooms and decent sized bathrooms compared to other places in Thailand for the same price.

They really need to fix the idle timeout on the wifi though. You’re automatically logged out after more than a minute of no activity. Almost worth taking a star off just for that.

For the price, Baan Malai is unbeatable in terms of price, location and service. The room is quiet, clean, dark (once you close curtain), bright when you open the curtain, big and comes with everything you would need in a good hotel room which are balcony, free drinking water, strong wifi signal, powerful shower with hot water, quiet A/C, a fridge and a comfortable bed. Although I would have preferred a better pillow (but it may have been just me as my friend slept like a baby). Basic breakfast is even included as complimentary! Hotel is super conveniently located on a quiet side road less than 5 mins stroll to the centre. Be sure to try the thai-Chinese restaurant at the corner (opens til late). Most notably, I have to congratulate the owner!! He definitely has great service mind and passion for what he does and this surely pas through to his team.

Love this place. Really nice rooms (spacious, clean, bright, well equipped, quiet) and excellent service (fast Wifi, friendly and helpful staff) for a good price. Just the breakfast could use a bit more diversity. 1st choice for Chiang Rai.

Baan Malai is down a quiet road. The rooms are nice with new fridge, aircon and hot shower. TV with CNN. Internet works good. Baan Malai is a very convenient location. In the heart of the old city not far from the clock tower. At the start of the road is a TMB bank where you can use the ATM safely. There is a 7-11 nearby where you can get a SIM card so your google maps will work. They will put the SIM card in your phone for you. The bus station is two streets down on the right. From there you can take the bus to Chiang Mai. There is a night bazaar near the bus station where you can buy stuff. I stayed 4 nights for about 2,500 Baht ($80).
