Privately owned memorial by the Phutoey Hotel but is open to public viewing. Maintenance certainly is required in some areas but very informative site to learn more about the history of those who served and the relationship between Thailand-Australia. No staff available on site.

Do not pass this museum by. The park is well kept, but the museum is a little faded and dusty. However it is the back story that makes it. Weary Dunlop re-visited the area in the 1980s I think and one thing led to another......and the result is this fascinating museum.

Go expecting something very personal and basic and you will come away happy.

I suggest 1 - 2 hrs

The hotel on the same site does lunch for about 130BHT for a typical Thai dish with rice and has amazing views of the river.

After the ziplining next door I spent about 2 hours wandering through the park looking at the displays with my children. It was very informative, different take and has many personal accounts on much of the history of the POWs in the area. A great place to appreciate the peace that we have now.

Weary Dunlop Peace Park เป็นอนุสรณ์สถานส่วนตัวของครอบครัววรณโชติ อยู่ภายในบริเวณโฮมพุเตยรีสอร์ท บอกเล่าเกี่ยวกับการสร้างทางรถไฟสายมรณะ โดยเฉพาะเพื่อการสดุดีคุณหมอท่านหนึ่ง คือ Colonel Sir Ernest Edward "Weary" Dunlop ศัลยแพทย์ชาวออสเตรเลีย

คุณหมอถูกส่งมาเมืองกาญจน์เป็นชุดแรก โดยอยู่ในฐานะเชลยระดับผู้นำ ท่านได้ให้การดูแลรักษาเชลยอย่างสุดกำลัง โดยได้รับการช่วยเหลืออย่างลับๆ จากคุณตาบุญผ่องและครอบครัว จนท่านทั้งสองเป็นมิตรที่แน่นแฟ้น "The Quiet Lions" และคุณตาบุญผ่องก็ได้รับการยกย่องอย่างสูงจากรัฐบาลออสเตรเลีย

อ.คณิศร์ เขียนถึงความตั้งใจในการสร้างอนุสรณ์สถานแห่งนี้ว่า
".....เพื่อสดุดีมนุษย์คนหนึ่งที่ทำแต่ความดี อยู่อย่างถูกต้อง ด้วยน้ำใจอันประเสริฐ ไม่เห็นแก่ตัว เสียสละ กล้าหาญ เด็ดเดี่ยว เป็นหมอที่ไม่ทอดทิ้งเมื่อเจ็บป่วย เป็นเพื่อนร่วมเป็นร่วมตาย เมื่อหมดกำลังใจ ในภาวะทุกข์ทรมานเยี่ยงนรก......"

อนุสรณ์สถานแห่งนี้ เรียงร้อยและนำเสนอข้อมูลได้ดีมาก เราอ่านทุกข้อความของทุกแผ่น
รู้สึกถึงความทุกข์ทรมานของเชลยและความเสียสละของผู้ช่วยเหลือ สุดท้ายคือมิตรภาพดีๆ ของทุกฝ่ายที่ไม่อยากจะเห็นสงครามเกิดขึ้นอีก

รถไฟที่วางแสดงอยู่นั้นคือรถไฟของจริงในสมัยสงครามโลก ส่งความรู้สึกหดหู่ได้อย่างรุนแรง
นึกถึงคนที่เคยทนทุกข์อยู่กับรถไฟขบวนนั้น ถ้าเดินคนเดียวคงมีขนลุกแหละ

น่าเสียดายที่สิ่งจัดแสดงบางชิ้นเริ่มเสื่อมสภาพตามกาลเวลาและการบำรุงรักษา
ถ้าทางรีสอร์ทมีการรีโนเวทหรืออาจขอความร่วมมือจากรัฐบาลออสเตรเลียน่าจะเป็นการดีอย่างยิ่งค่ะ

Doposud asi nejlepe zpracovane muzemum 2WW. V Hellfire pass muzeum zrekonstruovali a zmizely z nej vsechny osobni artefakty. Tady lze jeste videt dobre zpracovanou expozici cele vybudovane zeleznice a napriklad mista hrobu zemrelych valecnych zajatcu....

Unfortunately this place is a little run down now, but still a very worthwhile and sobering experience.

Het is een zeer indrukwekkend museum met waardevolle informatieve achtergrond informatie. Het geeft een goed beeld van hoe gruwelijk ook deze oorlog hier was. Wat echt heel jammer is, bis dat het museum inmiddels vergane glorie is. Het is erg vervallen en viies en is aan een grondige renovatie toe. Het zou mooi zijn als dat zou gebeuren, want dit mag niet verloren gaan.

It is a very impressive museum with valuable informative background information. It gives a good idea of how horrific this war was here. What is really very unfortunate is that the museum is now a faded glory. It is very dilapidated and in need of a thorough renovation. It would be nice if that were to happen, because this must not be lost
