Mad Hog Tavern (Mad Hog Phuket)

Really cool bar with a great vibe. There is a Harry Potter theme throughout with a few drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food items based upon the series. We only had drinks ourselves so can’t comment on the food (although it did look good). All of the cocktails we had were very flavourful and fun, and the atmosphere only added to the experience. A must for any Harry Potter fan when visiting Phuket!

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. Great food, cool pastries. When visiting, please order something to drink or eat. Otherwise, there will be too many people who just want to come in and take photos, and that disturbs the diners.

Absolutely amazing place with great design inspired by Harry Potter franchise. Deep dark atmosphere and nice food. Prices are above average but you are paying for something unique here!

Place is very reminiscent of a Harry Potter set. Very cool vibe indeed specially to fans of the book. They serve great butter beer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Food is good tasting as well. Reasonably price with live music to boot. Over-all, highly recommended.

Staff was very friendly and cheerful, food was alright, a bit pricy but you pay for the experience here. Desserts were big portions, we couldn't finish our pieces of chocolate cake and cheesecake 😁

Mad Hog: Magical Escape for Dads and Young Wizards in Phuket Town ‍
Wandering through Phuket Town with our two young adventurers, we stumbled upon a curiosity even their full bellies couldn't resist: Mad Hog, a "Harry Potter"-themed cafe with a tilted door straight out of Diagon Alley. As a solo dad of two, @vanliferenegades, I know the power of unique experiences, and this one did not disappoint!

Theme Park for Potterheads:

Stepping inside was like stepping onto the Hogwarts Express. Dimly lit and brimming with attention to detail, the props and decor transported us to a world of magic. From potion bottles lining the shelves to Quidditch memorabilia adorning the walls, everything screamed "Hogwarts," sparking gasps of wonder from my kids.

Beyond Butterbeer:

While the "bewitching" themed drinks, both alcoholic and kid-friendly mocktails, were a hit, Mad Hog offered more than just wizarding beverages. The menu, accessible through iPads (cool factor points!), featured a variety of dishes that satisfied even our picky eaters. And for me, the extensive craft beer selection was a welcome reward after a day of exploring.

Family-Friendly Fun:

The staff were incredibly friendly, engaging with the kids and adding to the magical atmosphere. The dimly lit environment might not be ideal for naps, but the excitement kept my little ones wide-eyed and entertained. They even have an outdoor seating area for those seeking a change of scenery.

Bonus Perks for Vanlifers:

Free Wi-Fi was a welcome bonus for a remote-working dad like me. Plus, the location offered plenty of street parking, making it easy to park our van and explore the cafe.

Final Verdict:

While not ideal for a quiet lunch with toddlers, Mad Hog is a must-visit for any dad (or mom) traveling with Harry Potter fans. The unique theme, delicious food and drinks, and friendly atmosphere make it a magical experience that both you and your little wizards will remember long after your visit. Just be prepared for potential sugar highs

Must visit for all the Potter Heads. The ambience is amazing and the interior shows great attention to detail with respect to the elements showcased from the Harry Potter series. The Butter Brew IS A MUST TRY. The restaurant also has a Nimbus 2000 on display, which is one of the 10000 brooms available worldwide. Highly recommended for all the Harry Potter fans.

We stumbled across this place and were delighted with the whole experience. We didn't get food because we had a reservation elsewhere but it looked awesome. The drinks we did order were delicious, and the whole place was suitably enchanting.

Amazing place with a Harry Potter/Fantasy tavern themed. They offer selection of foods, cocktails, beers, butter beer, coffees, etc. The place also has outdoor seating in the back and upper floor. Highly recommended!

Great spot for Harry Potter fans! Themed food and drinks, cool decor, lots of harry potter vibes. Had to get the butter beer and harry’s birthday cake of course. The drink was very sweet but got it for the vibes not the taste.

For a Potterhead, this is a must and a nice surprise in Phuket Old Town. They don't have a bunch of Thai food, but they have a variety of drinks (Butterbrew is unique) and the service is great.
The place is an absolute gem, you have to check it out! I loved the music too!

What an unexpected place to be in the middle of Phuket’s old town area. The entrance was very interesting which lured me into this place. Once I opened the crooked door, I was just amazed by the interior of this place. It’s something I haven’t seen in southern Thailand. It was like being in a movie seen filled with mysteries and spells. The drinks were alright. The butter beer was slightly more bland than what I wanted but overall alright. There is food available and the prices were reasonable. It’s a great spot to drop by with anyone. I recommend this place when in Phuket.

There were quite a lot of customers but it did a good job of organizing and tidying up. Our food didn't take long, everything was quite good.🥰

Great place! So accommodating. My child was doted upon. I requested a hot chocolate for her that was warm and not too hot and two staff members checked the temperature. They were so attentive!

Food was great and didn't take long to come out. We couldn't finish everything and they provided us with nice boxes for takeaway.
