We just had a lunch here. A tom yum soup was very delicious, full of shrimps. Crispy shrimps were also great. Crab omlet felt like to oily deep fried, could taste better if was butter pan fried.
Very nice interior and atmosphere.

Excellent Hotel. Great Location and very friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and modern. Lots of sitting areas to relax. Must give special mention of fantastic plumbing in bathrooms. Highly recommend.

Great Value for Money and Location

Sooknirund was originally built back in 1962 but went through a major renovation around 2019.

The staff told us that the structure of the original hotel was kept intact while the rest had been tastefully updated.

The twin room we had was on a small side, but it was well designed (dose not feel cramped) and has everything that we need. The only real issue was that the transparent design of the bathroom may not suit some people. The hotel uses good quality amenities from a famous local skin care "Thann" and the shower has decent water pressure.

Bed and pillow were comfy. The breakfast was really good too.

The location could not be better, especially if you want to sample the local food. There are many of local favourite restaurants and street food nearby (1 - 5 mins walk)

For 1st time visitors to ChiangRai I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Hotel is very well designed to incorporate the old structure and nature. Btw there is no swimming pool.
Location is fantastic. Food options all around. Weekly Saturday night walking street just 5mins walk away. Right in the city center and clock tower.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable bed. Big bathroom.
Service was excellent. I had a "noisy" first night a frog 🐸 seem to be hiding around my aircon compressor. Just past midnight i told the male reception (didn't get his name) he came up checked on it and gave me another new room.

Nice hotel, Relaxing place. The location is right in the center of the city. There are friendly staffs with great breakfast.

Expensive potentially for Chiang Rai but rooms are nice and well equipped. Missing a swimming pool.

Great location, sweet staffs, surprisingly quiet, nice courtyard for relaxing, spacious room.

Location is the best, walking distance to many local restaurants, some are just across the street. Best local Vegan place is just around the corner. Short walk to local fresh market, best to explore in the early morning and evening. Many temples are also in walking distance.

Staffs are very attentive and sweet, reminding me the personalities of local Chiang Rai.

We will definitely come back to this place.

Stayed here for a month , very good rate , great service and just meters away from the clock tower(middle of city centre).
Staff is very polite and the general manager is French and has a great customer friendly attitude. I really felt comfortable during my stay , the hotel gives a really relaxed vibe while there is a lot of natural light coming in.
I recommend this hotel when visiting Chiang Rai !!

Given time, we foresee significant improvements to this establishment with the new general manager on board. We did not get his name but he left a great impression on the day of check out. During our chat we learnt that he’s only been onboard a month but his attention to detail and hands on customer service made us feel incredibly welcomed. To our surprise, he even personally made our cappuccinos too❤
We observed that he took the time to speak with the hotel guests and restaurant patrons and attended to their needs.
To be honest, we were initially disappointed with the “no-service” from the staff at reception during check in, at the restaurant even housekeeping, however we believe this will change for the better with training and guidance under this new leadership😍We understand that good change takes time.

There are numerous nice touches to this boutique hotel which we appreciate from Nespresso coffee, Choui Fong tea, quality Thann toiletries, a full length mirror, 2000 watt hair dryer, bay window seats, sufficient and well appointed power outlets, spacious rooms and bathrooms and clean luxury bedding.

Perhaps aesthetically, there will be improvements too that will truly make this a true boutique hotel with concierge service greeting customers, creating a more welcoming hallway and removal of props not appropriate for the establishment.

the location is just perfect right in the city center. the staff is super attentive and friendly. the hotel is so clean and lovely and my room smell so good and i can sleep in their bed all day so comfy. would definitely come back !!

It is a luxurious hotel located right at the heart of the city and the clock tower, the symbolic of the town designed by Arjan Chalermchai himself. The entrance to the hotel is splitted before leading to the little garden. Since the hotel was renovated from the old one, it gives the sense of nostalgia. The room is spacious. Everything in the room seems well-placed. The only downside of this place is that I spent only one night here, I wish I could stay more. If you are looking for a hotel in town and close to everything, Sooknirund will not disappoint you.
