The caves were really nice and interesting, u might require some crawling (I would recommend if you are with a bike take your helmet especially if you are tall, saved me a lot of headache), be careful some of the rocks are very slippery. There are also some bats in the cave but nothing to worry about. Definitely recommend.

Surreal prehistoric cave burial site on a mountainside in the jungle. It is usually deserted. There are some 3,000 year old teakwood coffins lying just as they have done for centuries.

This is a very spiritual place where we often go to meditate. Time seems not to operate here.

The caves have many bats living in them and there are some huge insect nests on the cliffs above. A 200 year old tamarind tree snakes its way out of one cave.

Written that it needs entrance fee but no one there to collect, so free. No tourist guide, but the lane leads to the cave and markings in the cave is clear. Consider easy to access with little bit of walking and climbing the stairs. Nice place to view the ancient coffins. Please do protect the place when visit.

The hike up is about 10 min over metal stairs and rather steep! But the caves are really cool and a little scary (I was by myself so I didn’t go further in to explore). Make sure to bring water and don’t go alone!

This cave contains 2000 years old huge wooden coffin (teak coffin, one for each family), a burial ground for ancient tribe of Mae Hong Son people. Difficult hike, weedy trail but if you understand it's cultural and historical significance of this place then it's well worth it. Feel like an Indiana Jones ducking through these caves. Please treat this with respect as it's a sacred place for the locals.

Take the path from the unmanned ticket booth to the West for 250m. Then you see the stairs and ladders leading to the Caves. Take your left at the sign 1-2-3 and visit in this order. You might have to take off your day pack for one or two narrow passages, especially when you return on the other ladders after site 3..

You can explore a cave, where the Hill Tribe People of Mae Hong Son burried their dead family members 2000 years ago in teak coffins...
Was a nice climb and the only one alive next to me, have been some bats flying around me 🦇🦇🦇😁😁😁
Felt a bit like Indianer Jones 🤠😋
Amazing cultural place and a fun ride, too 🙏🙏🙏
Treat this place with respect!

This was truly amazing. It is a bit dangerous because it’s not renovated for touristic purpose, which is actually quite nice. The caves are beautiful and quite impressive.

It’s free, there’re toilets on both sides of the road.

Please keep in mind that this place use to be a graveyard.. be respectful!

Tham Phi Maen is a unique cave-- there are no guides and you have to climb your way through the cave by yourself! Most of the ladders are very old and rusty (probably built at least 20-30 years ago), but they are still pretty sturdy. The cave isn't that dark and you probably won't need a flashlight. Some parts of the cave have graffiti on them, which resulted from poor maintenance and disrespectful tourists. Everything there looks ancient, which fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the cave, as Tham Phi Maen contains wooden coffins from thousands of years ago. There are some bats in certain parts of the cave, but they won't do anything to you unless you provoke them. Remember to bring a mask or some hand sanitizer, as there may be bacteria on the cave walls.

It's easy to miss this place as the entrance looks abandoned. The path up is easy to find and climb. I hear there are day trips that bring tourists here but we never saw another person nor evidence anyone had been there recently.

Signs are in English and Thai and the cave was very interesting.
