Mae La Na Cave

We took 4 hour walk (climb) through cave, but we were done in maybe 2,5 hours. You can get rubber shoes for free, but they weren't much comfortable. Don't forget to drink enough water before you enter the cave, because it's not a good idea to carry a bottle there. You need both hands to climb some parts.
The guide didn't know English at all, he just led us. But it was amazing experience. Mostly it was just joking through the cave, but at some parts you need to be physically fit, because it was more like climbing. Also there were lots of tight places. Stunning experience!

Absolutely stunning. We did the walk into the waterfall which was amazing!!! Took about 2.5 hrs. We got wet up to our waist and had to scramble over rocks, squeeze through gaps and it was all very manageable for us. That said it's a pretty a committing environment that you want to be confident in

The following is based on my experience as an outdoor guide for over 20 years.

The guide was a guide in the most basic sense. He could show us the way. There was no effort to learn our names, or offer any education about the caves, nor any effort to learn basic English to communicate.

Risk management- I am guessing this is very simple. You do go into the cave 3 kms and there are many hazards. There were no screening questions around our capacity or health issues, no education about the environment. The guide carried no first aid kit or had any rescue equipment or could communicate a plan if an accident did happen. So if something did happen, like a broken limb or you panicked, you or your group would want to be confident and self reliant in managing this.

Amazing, take the time to go. Ware good hiking shoes, go to the bathroom, and take water 1 1/2 to two hours. It's one of the best trips I have made yet in Thailand. Beautiful weather for riding your motorcycle. Great roads.

An amazing experience but not for the feint of heart or those who aren't in good shape. The guides speak very little English so if you don't speak Thai I'd advise downloading Thai on Google translate so you can ask questions in the cave with no internet. There are snakes around the entrance to the cave, and lots of spiders and cockroaches deeper in. The four hour trip to the underground waterfall (2 there and 2 back) has some very challenging parts; crawling through tight gaps, walking over bamboo across holes, waist deep water. You will get very wet and dirty, but definitely worth it for anyone looking for an off the beaten track adventure.

Few things to note: ask around the village for the guide. He rides his bike & you follow, the road is bumpy and steep, make sure you're comfortable riding.
Bug spray inside is a must!
Sandals and clothes that can get wet and dirty.

This cave is an absolute must. We did the 4 hour option with the local guide. This cave does not have a traditional entrance. There are no restaurants or toilets. Locating this cave can be a bit tricky. But the signs are accurate. Follow the signs. Once you get down to the little village you’ll make a right and the road will begin to narrow. You will then start to think you’re on the wrong path. Continue up the narrow Trail. At the top on the right you’ll see what looks like an abandoned white ticket hut. There are very few people that frequent this location each day. Therefore, there will not be anyone at the abandoned hut. However, the local guide will know you’re there and he will appear on a motorcycle. The price for four hours is 500 baht per person. It’s worth every penny. If you can’t find the guide honk the horn someone will appear. Now, I’m not sure you could continue with a truck from this point. You will have to follow him about 5 to 7 minutes down a very challenging sidewalk type trail, we used a motorbike.

As for the cave, on a scale of 1 to 10 one being easiest 10 being the most difficult, this is a five or six. This is a water cave, you will get wet. The highest the water reached for us was about waist high a little lower. We went at the end of March, it will be most likely higher during rainy season. There are some challenging bits. The guide gave us head lights to wear. You could mostly hold it in your hand for 90% of the time. The cave is very walkable. However, there are a few tight spots. Your guide will sing a song saying “watch your head, watch your head”, that said the ceiling of the cave for 90% of the time is super tall at many points 30m high. If you’re on the fence and considering this cave, we strongly suggest you give it a go. Of importance, this was my girlfriend’s first caving experience and she was able to complete the tour with no major issues, you should be in decent physical condition to navigate this cave.

Nice adventure. Bring good shoes and if possible own headlight, than you will see more! Last two caves were closed because of rain season, they were flooded.

Absolutely brilliant trip. Fantastic guides. Off the beaten path. Doesn't feel touristy at all.

The 300baht tour was well worth it. You get just a little wet..
You can do the whole 12km trek for 1500 baht, 8hrs and you get very wet.

It's was pretty intense, I did the Lod Cave tour, which was scenically beautiful, but if you're into something more strenuous, the Mae La Na cave is way better. Alot less crowded. Definitely not for the faint of heart, the air is much more dusty, dense, humid, it's way darker, and it felt more claustrophobic. You really feel it after the trek too, its more spelunking than Lod cave. There's a 2 hr trek, and a 4 hr trek that has a waterfall. I was done by the end of the 2 hr trek, but I wished I did the 4 hr. Mae La Na is for adventurers.

Hands down one of the best caves I've been in a definite journey to get there I did a 12-hour Trek with a guide who is very knowledgeable and spoke good English well worth the effort and the money I would recommend anyone who loves caves to go here I saw more formations than I've seen anywhere else and one new one

This is a must. Diamond cave was unreal. Only people there, private guide and well off the beaten track. So incredibly privileged to see something incredible. Do it.

ในถ้ำต้องลุยน้ำตั้งแต่ระดับข้อเท้า จนถึงระดับคอ ซึ่งในน้ำมี ความตื้น และ ลึก ..มี ทั้ง ทราย หิน และ หินแหลม..ซึ่ง ต้องมีบ้างที่โดนกระแทก และถูกขีดข่วนจากหินได้ เพราะนี่คือการผจญภัย

ต่อด้วยส่วนที่แห้ง ซึ่งส่วนที่แห้งก็ไม่ง่าย ต้องปีน ซึ่งบางช่วงคือปีนไต่ข้างๆๆหน้าผาหินที่ลื่นมากเพราะเต็มไปด้วยดินที่มีความชื้น..ซึ่งลื่นมาก หากรองเท้าไม่มีดอกยางที่หนาเพียงพอ

ในถ้ำ ..ต้องลอด และ คลานใต้น้ำตกหินงอกหินย้อย ต้องมุดในซอกหินแคบๆๆ

..แต่..

สิ่งที่ได้คือ ความมหัศจรรย์ของธรรมชาติ ที่สวยงามเกินคำบรรยาย หินงอก หินย้อย ที่ระยิบระยับ.. ม่านหิน 7สี ..เสาหินที่สูงระดับตึก 3 ชั้น..และเป็นการ..วัดใจ..วัดประสิทธิภาพในร่างกาย..แต่คุ้มค่า

การเดิน 10 ชม.นี้ จะมีไกด์ท้องถิ่น ที่คอยดูแลและอธิบาย ..

การท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย เคยเขียใน Facebook ไว้ว่า ถ้าใครได้ผจญภัยใต้พิภพ ..ในถ้ำแห่งนี้..ซึ่งเป็นระดับที่ยากถึงยากมากผ่าน เปรียบเสมือนการจบปริญญาเอก..

ใครที่จะมาลองผจญภัยใต้พิภพ นี้ ต้องมีสุขภาพแข็งแรง และอุปกรณ์ที่สำคัญที่สุด คือ
-ไฟส่องติดศีรษะ แนะนำให้ใช้เหมือนคนกรีดยาง ราคาไม่แพง แต่สว่างมาก และชาร์ตครั้งเดียว ใช้ได้เป็น 10 ชม. ..
- หมวกกันน๊อคสำคัญมากใช้กันกระแทก ..
- ถุงทรายกันน้ำ100%สำหรับใส่อุปกรณ์ต่างๆรวมทั้งอาหารที่เราพกไป ..
- ซองกันน้ำใส่มือถือ..
- รองเท้าที่มีพื้นดอกหนา ที่สามารถยึดเกาะพื้นให้ไม่ลื่น

..และ..

ที่สำคัญสุด คือ ความฟิตและเฟริมของร่างกาย เพราะ เมื่อเริ่มผจญภัยใต้พิภพนี้แล้ว จะย้อนกลับไม่ได้..ต้องไปให้สุด ..จนถึงทางออก..
..แต่..คุ้มค่า ของครั้งหนึ่งในชึวิต

¡Espectacular! Hice el recorrido intermedio de 4h y caminas varios kilómetros dentro de la cueva con la luz frontal. Hay mucha agua, a ratos hasta la cintura. En algunos tramos hay que trepar por las rocas, no es una actividad apta para todo el mundo, hay que estar ágil y tener un mínimo de condición física. Yo simplemente fui a la caseta de los guías y salimos hacia la cueva el guía y yo solos, no es necesario formar un grupo como en otros tours. Te dejan unos zapatos de goma con mucho agarre, imprescindible para poder hacer el recorrido. Y mucho más barato que otros tours organizados, 500 bath por el recorrido de 4h. ¡Totalmente recomendable!

Nous avons choisi la randonnée de 4h (500 bath par personne) et ca en valait vraiment la peine.
Nous avions les pieds dans l’eau ( parfois jusqu’à la taille) pour voir des formations, et même des cascades souterraines, de toute beauté
Je vous le recommande fortement

( le chemin pour y descendre est très raide, beaucoup plus que les routes pour joindre Paî et Maé Hong Son, demandez au guide de faire une parti à pieds si vos freins ne sont au top)

Merveilleuse grotte, la plus longue de Thaïlande. La visite de la grotte se fait avec un guide (obligatoire) et vous pouvez choisir un circuit de 2h, 4h ou 8h. Nous avons opté pour celui de deux heures ne sachant pas à quoi s'attendre mais c'est trop court ! L'expérience est vraiment génial, on est seul au monde dans le noir le plus total (le guide nous donne des lampes frontales). Il y a des rochers à escalader, des échelles à descendre et des zones de traversées d'eau (1m30 au maximum en février). A la fin de la visite, on a qu'une envie c'est d'y retourner et de faire celle de 8h.
2 petites grottes (coraux et diamants) sont aussi à visiter à côté (30 min chacune).
Vaut le détour et mérite de meilleurs avis que Lod Cave !

Огромные залы, подземная река, и подземный водопад!

Я брал 4х часовую экскурсию, и это заняло меньше времени, потому что я шел быстро.

Со мной шел очень хороший гид☝

Без гида - нельзя.
Это единственное место, в котором я был, где без гида реально опасно.

С гидом - вы в безопасности.

ถ้ำที่ยาว ทางเดินด้านในสนุก ทางดินลื่นๆต้องเดินอย่างระมัดระวัง มีทางหินชันๆให้ได้ปีนป่าย มีน้ำใสไหลเย็นให้ได้คลายความเหนื่อยล้าได้ มีปลาแปลกๆ หินงอกหินย้อยงดงามตามธรรมชาติ
