Wat Samran

Simply peaceful & spiritual
My wife & I were happy to have followed William Hartz’s recommendation of this Wat when he described it as “simple & secluded”. Immediately upon entering the grounds you noticed this simplicity and cleanliness of the whole area. The startlingly & imposing white statue of Buddha is the paramount feature with a small but adequate prayer room. We noticed the candelabra lighting fixtures in this room with a smile.

The local folk obviously provide a lot of love in the maintenance of this Wat as can be seen in the photo of the giant taro. We were the only people there at the time of our visit and so could spend quite some time enjoying the peacefulness & serenity of the grounds.

I am not sure of the order in visiting this Wat with the nearby Wat Pa Non Sawan as well as having lunch at Chomthungpa. In hindsight I would think Wat Pa Non Sawan first due to its “boisterousness” then a short drive onwards to lunch & concluding a great day out with the comforting stop on the return journey at Wat Samran.
