Location and the view from the restaurant and the main pool are top notch. The general setting of the resort is very pleasant. It almost looks like a natural landscape. Various installations provide atmospheric lighting effects in the evening. The villas offer plenty of space (the terrace in particular is very spacious) and enough distance to the neighbours. The outdoor shower is a highlight.
All the staff at the resort were very friendly, always helpful and committed. A big cheers for that! We particularly enjoyed the two excursions. Our guide was extremely friendly, funny and knowledgeable - which really made the tours a great experience.

Overall, although the resort is not ultra-modern, it is in good condition and well maintained (some minor "refreshments" here and there would still be nice).

There are a few things that could be improved (but nothing too serious at all):
At least the Deluxe Villa unfortunately has no wardrobe and offers limited options for storing your belongings. Some villas lack privacy on the terrace due to the location close to major path. Food & Beverage prices on the menu are given as net. Taxes and a service charge are added (which is misleading and unusual in Thailand). Although the staff are always friendly, hard-working and helpful, some English skills need improvement.

We stayed for 4 nights. Booked family hut. It was enormous. The rooms were large, two bathrooms and a living room. There was even too much of the space. The breakfast was superb - Thai food, eggs, noodles, all kinds of veggies and fruits. Just remember - no pork, only chicken, beef and fish.
There is soooo much space there, the huts are placed such that you do not feel the presence of other people. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Just watch out for the bugs.

Lovely friendly staff who were very attentive
This hotel is located in the jungle which means there are bugs and animals around.
The bathrooms are outside but connected to the rooms. Unfortunately I had a mouse drop down from the roof whilst I was on the toilet! It was reported to staff who laid down traps and tried to find it.
They asked if I wanted to change rooms which I did for peace of mind.
I seemed to have the worst luck when it came to animals as my next room had a snake by the door which tried to get in! Again staff came quickly to remove the snake.

Rooms are large and clean. Location is beautiful. Large infinity pool with pool bar was great. Stunning views for days!

Breakfast buffet was excellent.

Beautiful place, beautiful people and an amazing pool area. Bungalows are super nice and spacious, you must know though that you're in the forest and there are insects around (on the outside terrace, not inside) and the floor of the outdoor shower is covered with whatever falls from the trees above (its been cleaned every day, but).
I loved my stay there and hope to be back soon

Absolutely wonderful stay. The staff are so friendly and the resort is well kept, quiet and ‘eco friendly’. The breakfast was amazing. We were delighted when we saw our accommodation, very clean, comfy/big bed, very private with a wonderful outdoor space and outdoor shower - it felt as though we were living in the jungle. Lots of wildlife which we loved including water monitors, lizards, eagles, birds, geckos.
The resort is at the right end of the island and easy to get out and explore. We hired scooters and ate out for most meals. They dont allow scooters or vehicles in the resort so it’s super quiet, take advantage of the buggies that will drop you to or pick you up from the gate.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night, it was nice but expensive and slow service.
Highly recommend. We’ll be back!

After reading all the different reviews, I was not sure what to expect. We stayed at Koh Yao Yai Village for 10 nights with our two small kids and we loved it. We had a villa by the beach with a nice patio, comfortable beds and an outdoor shower. The main (infinity) pool is amazing with the pool bar, the whirl pool and the kids pool and the view from there is amazing. Our kids spent hours in the pool so we got to read some books. The other pool is also nice and more quiet but needs a little update. It was truly relaxing. We did not really go into the ocean much, also because of low tide. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The coffee (from Italy) was great and the breakfast buffet was good. Great massage places and restaurants are in walking distance. Otherwise, there is not much around so if you really want to relax, this is the place. Some people wrote that the place is past its prime. Yes, there is patina and some things should be renewed but I understand that this takes a bit of time after Covid. Also, you are in the middle of the forrest so for us it was fine that the place felt a bit rustic. Some people wrote that there a spiders etc. We had some geckos visiting the bathroom or better we were visiting where they live. Not sure how one can expect sterile surroundings when choosing to be in the middle of nature. Some people wrote that the shower gel smells weird. It is organic product smelling like kaya/pandan, which I found great. At the end, I think one's attitude defines how one enjoys themselves in a place. This is certainly a place where one can spend some happy relaxing days in amazing weather and nature.

this was the most beautiful resort i’ve stayed at. very tranquil and relaxing. koh yao yai is such a beautiful island. the resort staff were all so kind. our room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. the outdoor shower in our villa was to die for!!! some of the best food we ate was right outside of koh yao yai village too, if you get a chance to walk a bit and explore you won’t regret it. overall 100/10 💕💕💕

A wonderfully relaxing exclusive little hotel. Little, but spread out around a lot of grounds with a lovely restaurant, beautiful swimming pool and amazing views. And the management of fantastically helpful and fun!!

Christmas is in the air at the hotel! There is a fantastic Thai restaurant at the entrance called Chill chill, awesome food.

They have a lovely team of people working there. The lady in the spa, Goong, a fantastic team. The young guy running the tours called James is great fun and there is a wonderful Chef called Buffy who is quite a character as well.

This hotel is awesome! Staff are so kind and very friendly, they will help you to organise anything around the island. Our room was beautiful, a jungle sea side vibe. Highly recommend for anyone staying on the island and wanting a relaxing holiday.

What a great place!
The island feels like when you first came to Thailand 25 years ago. Serene, quiet, unspoiled.
And the "village" integrates beautifully into it. The natural style, the rice fields that smell so good, the pathways, the library etc. And of course the rooms! Huge, high ceilings, the views, well equiped. Just wonderful 👍
I recommend the beach front ones, 705 may be the nicest, 707 is also great.
The food is very good as well, try the Riceberry.
Two pools, one very quiet most of the time.
Unfortunately there are families with kids, which as kids do, spoil the quietness a little. Haven't seen too many Russians, which is a welcomed change to the Russian Riviera (Phuket).
Many more positives like a Nespresso machine in the rooms come to mind, but I'll stop here.
Not without mentioning the professional friendly staff.
All in all: Don't go there, I don't want to share 😆

You might as well call this a cat resort because there were a lot of cats hanging around on the property. These are all stray cats, but they hang out around the hotel. I was told by the staff that they feed them around the staff canteen. These cats are very friendly and all vaccinated (they are vaccinated by volunteers who come to the island). So if you want to give them some love, feel free to bring little cat treats during your stay, but also please be respectful of the hotel and other guests if you do choose to do so.

The resort itself was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We opted for the transfer option and it was very smooth and went well, we didn't have to worry about anything.

The rooms were big, and the villas were comfortable, the resort food was great, the wifi was speedy and they even have happy hour in the pool bar!!!

My only vice is that I wish I would have stayed here longer!

Fabulous location, food, service and accommodation. Great place to experience island life away from the hustle of the big beach resorts.

Indescribable place, really paradise. I lived in a huge villa more than 90 square meters with the shower under the sky and I felt like in a movie. No problem with hot water, air conditioning. Although the building is made of some scraps, and most of everything is made of rough wood with some wear and tear, it's still very authentic and in general, ergonomic to some extent.

The area is huge, green, with a nice, long and clear beach. Sup surfing and kayaking for free, but be careful - there is no lifeguard.

Breakfasts could be better and more varied, and it's potentially nice to put food somewhere in the premises. You know, canteen in the middle of the jungle, with lots of insects... that's why I usually didn't eat anything. Too many insects on the food.

The general style of staycation here is the same old same old, but in a very hedonistic way. List of activities are quite limited, you just ride a scooter, and make for Thai massage, a few shops, beautiful beaches. You will meet half of the island's population in a week.

What an amazing hotel! Beautiful jungle houses and an amazing private beach. Staff has great manners and are very helpful. Transfer from the airport was convenient.

Only one downside: The restaurant and bar prices do not include VAT and service fee. When you get the bill it is 20% higher than the listed price. This is quite a cheap trick… To compare, the restaurant just outside the resort, it has VAT in the prices included and no service fee. Food is as good. So, I recommend eating outside.

We have just returned from Koh Yao Yao Village where we celebrated our wedding with our family and it has been a perfect stay in many regards: The staff are the kindest and most accommodating people one can imagine, nothing is ever too much to ask. The setting is simply stunning and the design of the whole village, in particular the communal areas near the infinity pool, works well with the landscape setting. Rooms are generous and well appointed, noting hair dryers and irons are only available at request. The cuisine is innovative and we ate at the restaurant most nights. The breakfast buffet offered a great selection of Western and Thai items with designated chefs ready to prepare salads, eggs, soup etc. The coffee was average but hey, it's not Italy! We went to the spa several times and again, the setting is fabulous and the treatments, while expensive, are wonderful and the reception staff will arrange pick-up from/to your room for your convenience. Our group of 18 used the hotel transfer between the Koh Yao Yai and Phuket Airport and this was easy and convenient. Some participated in tours organised by the hotel and the feedback was that these were very informative and professionally run.

One word of caution for parents of young children: There are a number of hazards around the village (i.e. power extension leads, lack of balustrades on stairs or near the pool & dining platform). It is certainly manageable but requires a bit of diligence.

Overall, I would highly recommend the hotel to people who want to get away from the crowds, who appreciate something unique, who value sustainability and who look for a bit of luxury without it being over the top fancy.
