I was there in July, the process for renewal of residence permit is very smooth and fast. The online registration is a must if you don't want to wait at the place- the down side is the schedule is so full you will have to wait for you appointment at least 2 months. On the day of the appointment at the exact time I was invited to the desk of the officer who processed the printed form and got new photos for the card. At the end I spent less time in the foreign police office than traveling back and forth. Very nice experience, well done 👍👍👍

Editing my previous one start review.
Don't go without appointment. If you go without appointment then good luck.
In my case I went once and absolutely didn't work.
I came back home, asked for appointment, and next time I went, absolutely no problem. Everything on time and good.

Wow I am really fascinated, it was a perfect service, it took me less than 30 min. The officers do speak english and were very kind.
ID will be sent via post, the old one I can send via post back.
8 years ago we had to wait from 5 o'clock and were spending the whole day for application and for picking up another one whole day meaning what I did in 30 min, we were spending 2 days in the past.

Thank you very much...

Critical:
Before you go it is important to register on the website and to get the reservation PIN code. While you get the reservation all needed information is asked on the website, once you fill them at the end it fills up the application form for you automatically, all you need to do is to print and bring it to the police thats it.

Once again thanks a lot for the great service, huge improvements, fast handling.

This was such a change from the Petrzalka office. I was there at my appointment time and was seen 5 mins after my appointment. All the staff including the guard at the door spoke English. I am really impressed with the changes the department has made in the new office. last time it was 11 hours of waiting with a small child and very rude and unhelpful staff. Well done SK for these changes :)

Hovorili so mnou veľmi zdvorilo a priateľsky. Slovenčinu ovladam na úrovni B1;)

Other than the remote location, the new administration of the Foreigner Police have clearly gone to lengths to improve. The on-line booking system, though slightly buggy, is a wonderful step forward and makes the process much less anxiety inducing. The new building itself is clean, open, and set up efficiently - many booths are available for processing many people at once. The police themselves are more accommodating (at least in my experience) than in previous visits. The officer who took my ID picture was very kind and worked with my poor Slovak in a humorous and forgiving manor.

My experience was smooth here. The staff are helpful, or at least guide you on the next step. They speak very little English, so good luck with that.

There is also a (very basic) kids play area inside to keep the younglings entertained during the wait. A vending machine, with limited choice, is your only option for food. No public Wi-Fi.

The only downside I felt was that it is on the outskirts of the city.

I was assisted throughout the process by Pro Relo, my immigration consultant. So cannot judge the hiccups faced by others. For me, it was a breeze.

As EU citizens the procedure to register was straightforward and quick. We were advised to be there at 7:00 although they open at 7:30.
They did open 7:30 and they immediately called EU citizens on a separate (very small) queue. The main issue is that the announcements were only in Slovak. Once inside someone asked us the reason of the visit (in Slovak)and printed a relevant number ticket. We waited in the sitting area for our number to appear. Once our number came on the screen we went to appropriate counter. The police officer was polite and spoke English. We had the wrong application but she printed the correct one and helped us fill it in. At some point we needed to pay some fee. We were given some number codes which we entered at a paying machine. The language on the machine was Slovak but there was someone who helped us get through the screens, pay and get the receipts. The machine accepts cash and cards (also contactless). As EU citizens to register we needed 1. work contract, 2.accomodation contract, 3. 2 photos 3x3.5cm, 4. passports, 5. the application form. After you hand in the paperwork, you have your photo, signature and fingerprints taken and you're done. The whole process after our number appeared on the screen took around 40-45minutes.
4 stars because if you are a foreigner it's unlikely that you speak Slovak, so anouncements could also have been in English to make the whole process easier.

A few years back the foreign police station was in Petrzalka in old and small building without facilities, and option to book appointment. We had to queue for hours to get in, starting as early as 3am. It was never a pleasant experience, had to go there a few times. The last time we went to foreign police station, it is already in new place with option to book an appointment. We had our appointment 8:30, came to the place at 8, 8:15 we went in and waited for our number to come up. There was a policeman at the door, directing everybody where to go, what to do. The whole meeting took around 20 mins, policemen were polite and helpful. There is finally an option to get your documents sent where you need, no need to go to the station second time to pick it up. I can see a big improvement when comparing the experience a few years back. However, there is still a space for improvement - everybody working there should speak english, which is not the case. Also, all instructions on boards and machines should also be in English as it is a foreign police station...
