Michael's Gate Reviews

A beautiful building with a lot of history. The tickets are from the pharmacy nearby, took me a while to find it. I paid for a Bratislava Card which gave free entry (and to many other places). Initially the spiral staircase is steep but the rest of the stairs are fine. Each floor tells you more about Bratislava and the history and structure of the tower. I have a fear of heights, I was fine inside but outside was windy and got the better of me! It was a Sunday and there was only me in there at 10am

We visited this attraction during Christmas. Pick up tickets in the small pharmacy to the side of the building. We bought the Bratislava card €24, it includes free entrance to almost all main attractions in Bratislava. The stairs up to the top are a bit narrow but manageable. There are 3 flights of stairs to go up, so be prepared for this. The information posted on each floor gives you a good history lesson of the gate and the renovations it went through. The main feature of the gate is the walkway around the mineret, great views in 360. I recommend this place to everyone visiting Bratislava.

It was a beautiful attraction in the heart of Bratislava. Right in the middle of the old town, this gate signifies the medieval times. Dating back before 13th century, this gate has been a prominent spot for Bratislava old town. There are many restaurants and souvenir shops nearby. The evening lights make the place more beautiful.

Well worth the visit. Lots of information provided about the history and renovations of the tower. A credit to the people in charge. Tickets are handy to get.

Such a beautiful picture spot in the center of Old Town! We’ve been to a decent number of cities in Europe and the Bratislava Old Town is right up there being one of the very best, most charming, and most medieval-“feeling”. Michael’s Gate is the center point of Ventúrska Michalská, one of the big streets in Old Town. It has a striking teal-colored top that you can actually go up to if you pay for a ticket - you can get a great view of the Old Town area much closer than from the Bratislava Castle. Great history to learn, and a beautiful place!

It was a short trip but with the history of the gate. The old bell is there too and we had a lovely view on the castle too!

This review is for my experience walking the entire area, inclusive of Michael's Gate and other surrounding sights. The entire area is gorgeous and has this amazing vibe and yet it doesn't feel touristy unlike in neighboring Vienna despite its central location. This is a nice small walking area with lots of awesome food options and architecture / sights. Check out the gate, Cumin's statue and even Avalon's Magic, an esoteric supplies shop. It was a pity we only came here for a daytrip and had to leave by 8pm. I will come back again when I have the chance.

It is definitely one of the most beautiful monuments you can find in Bratislava! The street you take to reach it is really very beautiful, full of very nice shops and restaurants. I highly recommend going for a nice walk

It is a nice gate , great feeling when you goes through it , you feel the place is a historical place, is the only city gate that has been preserved of the medieval fortifications and ranks among the oldest town buildings. Built about the year 1300, its present shape is the result of baroque reconstructions in 1758, when the statue of St. Michael and the Dragon was placed on its top. You might need tickets if you want to go to the top.

Fun exploring the old town. I didn't expect there were a lot of things to do and wished we stayed the whole day here. We just took a quick stop here from our roadtrip; nonetheless, it was a good break from a long drive.

Great structure. Looks like a church, but is actually a gate. Can be seen from any directions in the old region of Bratislava.

Beautifull. I love Bratislava. The old town is verry similar to Ljubljana my birth city.
