i love SNG. it’s easily the best museum i’ve been to of the year even although it’s only march.

these things are what i thought they did really well.
- public programs that are easy to engage with. materials like the pencils and pamphlets needed are equipped in immediate surroundings
- a variety of seating options everywhere you go, whether it’s an exhibition or a public corridor / corner. i think it’s a big step towards accessibility and it’s not hard to do.
- a building that is not pretentious. it also doesn’t not put on a facade of being fancy as it provides contexts detailing how it’s built in some of the peripheral spaces in the building
- a very innovative audio guide mediums. you enter special codes on your phone for each artwork you are interested. i like the effort of going beyond the default telephone-like audio guide device. the interface on the mobile is very informative, with clear and playful design.
- friendly staff everywhere
- The exhibition on females role in today’s society was particularly enlightening as the imagery being depicted such as motherhood, pregnancy, domestic household chores, were common in our daily lives, but the artist has such sharp additional angles that challenge what being female really means
- overall what I like the most about the museum is that it really uses the space to express a voice, aka its artistic and cultural identity in the late 20th century/21st century. It is a very good reflection and elucidation on today’s Slovakia. it really is a national gallery.

Great Slovak Gallery. Located on great location in center of Bratislava. Gallery building is art of it own. Exhibitions great overview of Slovak art. There are also few interactive installations as well. Great job SNG and I recommend it to everyone.

Nice exhibition and building. It's small, you need less than an hour to complete the tour, but it's quite nice. Worth the visit.

I like museums and galleries, that’s why I decided to spend my last hours in SNG. Great place for art lovers, however at the time when I visited this gallery some halls were closed due to the temporary technical works, despite that the main halls were opened and I enjoyed my visit. The view from the window on the 4th floor is worth to see it.

It's quite new and there are many empty spaces but I still like it. The staff was very helpful and spoke very good English.

Excellently renovated building, which is definitely worth a visit. You can find here a café and a small shop, but you can sit and relax in many places within the gallery. Currently there is also a cinema, and various interesting events are organized here. Whether you are interested in modern art or not, be sure to visit this gallery, you will not be disappointed.

OK, I'll admit that we've had this location in our plans for the past few years, but we haven't visited until today (and yes, including today). Yes, I'm a little ashamed, but since Bratislava is a very interesting city for me, the opportunity for the next visit is just around the corner... I'll write more and in more detail soon... But now I mention..., the facade is spectacular and invites you to visit . OK, I didn't prove myself, I don't know how, but at least I caught the Christmas train (tram) in the photo frame :-)

The renovation of newly opened building of Slovak National Gallery looks amazing. Right now, there are not as many interesting art pieces, but it is worth to visit just to walk around and enjoy the place.

I liked the art and there were couple of art installations that interested me, but as I said, right now it feels a bit empty.

There are several floors and on the highest one, you can enjoy a nice view on the street below with floor to ceiling window.

I will definitely come vack when there’s some more art inside.

Recommend :)

Very nice place to visit. The set of buildings are unique because it's combination of historical water military barracks, Esterhazy Palace and more buildings connected with modern structures. The whole place with inner atrium square is full of natural light so you can observe art's in unique lights

One of the most beautiful places in Bratislava, pure architectural and designer heaven. There are a lot of very photogenic places, interesting art and very kind people. Plus, you can buy some specialty coffe in there and also some art books and other merch. I recommend you to go during the week days, or earlier in the morning during the weekends since there are many people during the day and in the afternoon usually. But I'm sure it's beautiful whenever you visit. ❤

Everyone of the staff was very friendly and offered their help to show me the way to different exhibitions. It was clean and not a lot of people were around. I payed 9€ as adult so see all exhibitions.

Visited newly opened area of SNG and the experience was just amazing. On the day of festive opening of recently rebuilt SNG gallery area, SNG offered many great and interesting exhibitions, architectural insights, events, discussions along with fascinating atmosphere of enjoyment from the opening day. The opening of these SNG buildings to public is a great historic milestone for Slovakia and I believe this can serve as a stimulus for a decent and prosperous future of the national gallery.

Very cool building with a lot of interesting art ranging from medieval to modern. My favorite part was the local art including a video installation on Slavic culture made in the early 1900s (before too much outside influence). Staff was very helpful and recommended where to star lit our tour and what to see.

One of the very few well done things in Slovakia lately. The renovation is done perfectly with the respect for all the old, the not-so-old and the new in all ways. Only the navigation had some flaws but that can be tamed after some time of full service.

I love the gallery. It is situated on the bank of the river Danube, right next to city center. It shows modern art and some art collection of Slovak authors. I absolutely love exposition of Kornel Foldvari library where me and my family usually spend most of time. Kids play with little Indians pawns under the stuffed horse, me diging throught the huge amount of books which they're keeping for you for two weeks. Admission to gallery is free. There is an excellent bookstore and cafeteria on the entry ground level.

Beautifully renovated, great views, clean and friendly environment. Overall great! However the current expositions are quite small and limited.

In a delightful weekend sojourn, our family ventured to the newly refurbished National Art Gallery, an excursion that proved both enriching and surprisingly economical, with an admission under €15 for our party of five—a sum that was unquestionably well-spent.

Alas, upon our arrival, we discovered that some of the pieces we eagerly anticipated had continued on their own journeys. However, those that graced the gallery's walls offered a profound insight into the rich tapestry of Slovak and Czech artistic heritage.

I was particularly captivated by the striking cubism in Emil Filla's "Head of Old Man," a piece that seemed to resonate with stories untold. Equally mesmerizing was Ladislav Mednyánszky's "Night Pilgrims at the Cross (Journey through the Forest)," a work enveloped in a mystique so deep, I found myself lost in its dark, enigmatic allure for what felt like an age.

This gallery serves as a splendid prelude to a day spent exploring the Old Town, ideally positioned before immersing oneself in the vibrant hustle and bustle of the city center and the festive charm of the Christmas markets.

I was so happy to spend an hour or two exploring this place, and fell absolutely in love with some of the pieces exhibited here - Laco Teren in particular. I would never have learnt of the existence of this great artist without the museum displaying his work, and without the museum itself being such a welcoming venue for tourists such as myself.
