Fun little railway to take. Very picturesque landscape. Highly recommend!

I would reserve tickets online, I believe they stop selling tickets for a particular time slot a couple hours in advance.

I went right when it opened in the morning at 9:30, we were taken on this small cart that’s best describes as a motorized cart rather than a train but it was still fun! The whole trip took about 40 mins. You have 20 mins at the top to explore, but it goes by pretty fast. It’s a good detour to do before the Orava castle.

Excellent fun! Very fun place to visit. You ride on a logging railroad trough the forest with all the sights and smells. On the peak you walk around and take in the sights from a viewing tower.  The whole tour takes a little over an hour and at a very reasonable price. Very courteous staff. The drawback is that there are no English signs, but everything is simple and self-explanatory. Definitely recommend!

Historical railway through forest with wooden fairy tale creatures during the ride. Motor and steam engines possible, depending on schedule. Kids friendly ride with 20 minutes stop before returning. Kind staff.

Nice trip in a small touristic train, good for a visit when you're nearby or as a stop on a road trip. Total takes 1 hour: 20 minutes ride uphill, 20 minutes to have a look around at the station and view tower on top of the hill, and another 20 minutes for the return trip. Free parking and toilets. Check the departure times in advance on the website as the train is not so frequently riding.

Can't not compare this with the train in Vychylovka in Nová Bystrica where I was year or two back. That one felt pretty dull so I was a bit worried taking our English friends here for a trip. I couldn't be further away from truth. The only thing I could complain about is the access road, but I don't think this belongs to the Orava Logging Railway (OLR) people to maintain. You start the trip in beautiful railway station in the middle of the forest. It's called Tanečník (the dancer) and you go up around twenty minutes. It sounds short but it's long enough not to start being boring. To make sure you don't, the surrounding forest is filled up with sculptures of fairy tale creatures and characters as well as the scenery is opening up as you coming up from the forest. There is a twenty minutes break on the top with the view tower and traditional house. This isn't enough for people looking for spending time in nature but at the end of the day you are having a train ride not hiking trip. You can always drive up there with you car. It's called Sedlo Beskyd (The Beskyd pass). Don't worry if you come too early... There is cafe, souvenir shop and the playground for children. We would give 6th * for having a child changing table (thing quite rare in Slovakia)

Nice place to have a trip with a small child. It is the oldest forest train in Slovakia. It took about one and half hour.

The train and the rail system is unique. There are some bits for younger kids such as fairytale figures next to the rails. The views from the top station are stunning. I would go again.

Nice, relaxing, tourist and children oriented place.
If you are lucky - an real steam locomotive is used (special occasions).
I had tried both (steam and diesel), both are interesting.

Great for families with children. Besides the train, the nature and an observation deck, there are quite a few activities for children at the station.

Cute historical train, which will be enjoyed by kids and adults of all ages.
Part of trip is a possibility to take a short walk to a view tower.
