Starting point for the Ciernohronska zeleznica with museum and souvenir shop. 12€ for return ticket on the Vydrovo route. There are 2 more routes. 16.9. is the last day of the season they operate on official schedule.

Recently reopened. We visited the train station, enjoyed lunch at the cafe, took the train up to the end of the line and then returned. Came back the next day to see the train going through the Tatran match. Lovely traditional trainline with history worth reading up about.

Beautiful attraction for the little but also for the adults! Going back in time having a ride here in an open wagon surrounded by wonderful scenery of Slovak nature driving past a little river, cows and sheep. There is also a possibility to have a lunch in this open wagon serving burgers etc. The price for an adult for one ride is ca.10€ and you can choose among few different journeys, longer or shorter...There are also few places to have a lunch at the "station" with daily offers, but also other traditional restaurants around.

Great place to visit. There are three possible routes you can take and all of them worth it. After each you have a short break and the timetable is scheduled so that you may take all in about 4 hours. One of the routes goes through the museum in nature "skanzen"

A good place to visit specialy with kids. The museum offers several atractions ancluding an old train ride, forest hiking and natural museums. Don't miss it !!!

This is a good idea how to spend a nice time with your family or friends. Three different routes by train, you can also have a walk in beautiful nature and then go back to the main station.

A well kept steam railway with 3 routes. We took the two lines which ran on steam that day in an open car, and it was a fantastic experience, for us and for the kids. Parking was no problem. Staff was extremely friendly and spoke very good English. This is a full recommendation, definitely worth a detour.

Perfect trip with children (mine was 2 and half years old). We took the track to Vydrovo. There is a lot to see even if you go down following the car road. I absolutely recomend it. Definitely check their website for info what else you can do there (bike roads, etc.).

Historical forest railway, nice and pleasant journey for everyone.

Great little railway well worth a visit. Enjoyed the open sided carriages on a hot day. We purchased a ticket that took us along the line being pulled by a lovely steam locomotive. On return to the station we then boarded a diesel loco and went in the opposite direction into the forest. We enjoyed the forest walks and then returned about an hour later. Friendly staff and lovely setting.

Amazing trains, were there when they had special programme for kids which was amazing (able to create own lanterns from steel), great whole day possible with little planing (take more than one train, walk back from Vydrovo). Not cheap but definitely worth it.

This is an attraction you must not miss when passing this location, especially with kids. You can find small steam and diesel engines with special opened wagons driving through beautiful nature scenery with romantic views. It's been originally created for wood and another goods distribution since early 20th century but later on it lost its reasoning due to more effective transport types. There's been lot of effort given to make it working again and keeping it alive. There's an all year service it's just about to choose the right season most filling your expectations. The network consists of three terminals - Chvatimech - currently under reconstruction, Vydrovo and Šánske with central point in Čierny Balog. Vydrovo offers an additional attraction - open-air museum dedicated to the local nature where you can get some global know how as well. Track to Šánske passes through villages where you can see another kind of unusual attraction - railroad crosses the local football stadium just in front of the visitors tribune. It is always great time being there enjoing the life and nature passing slowly having breeze in hair 😊

Very nice place, lovely helpfull people, amazing view, children welcome place, many to learn about forest and load of old type of machinery on display. Historic railway (green line) is closely conected to local forest maintanance. We were there just on end of season, ticket price is not bad(9€).

If you like narrow gauge railways, this is the place to visit. It offers 3 lines. We took the line into Vydrovo valley with forestry museum. If you are lucky, you can see the steam engine in operation on other two lines.
