Got the train to and from Vienna no problem! We used trainline app to book tickets and no issues. Trains had everything we needed and were relaxing.

Personally I had a great experience. I'm traveling solo so I was a bit worried but everything was great. My train was around 11PM and security was walking around all the time. Even ordered a homless guy to go outside the station as to not bother travellers. I had an overnight train which did not show up on the timetable with the correct name of the station so I was worried it was not the right train. Went to the info desk to ask and the lady was extremely nice and helped me out.

Very helpful staff - recommend visiting the travel centre, located up the stairs and to the right with an orange front, if you have complicated ticket / seat reservation requests. We were able to easily sort our travel across Hungry, Romania and Bulgaria.

Nice and easy to follow for an English chap to follow and understand. My train was delayed but easy to keep track of how long and what platform it would arrive on. Lots of places to grab something to eat or drink.

Good train station a little reminder though, this is not the only train station in Bratislava that you can get from Vienna central. I made a mistake and got in the Bratislava Petrzalka make sure you get the one that says Hlavná Stanica. I’d you don’t then these a bus 91 that goes to Hlavná Stanica and Old Town is in the way. It’s well worth the visit I enjoyed it very much.

One can hop on and off trains here. Soviet onion feeling included.

I really don't understand the negative reviews. It's a small railway station. It's got pretty much everything, restaurants, luggage deposit facility, English speaking personnel at the counters. It's not lit very brightly for winter when I was there so I guess that makes a lot of people think of it being unclean. It's not one of the cleanest but not like some make it sound. I think it's beauty is in its being small. You don't have to walk much for anything. If your train has some time then you can just step out of the station and smoke too. If you're into things like that. Uber works perfectly fine in Bratislava. Don't go for local cabs they are exhorbitantly prices compared to Uber.

At first look dirty and overrun with visual smog. This station has some quite excuisite hidden gems. For one what you see from outside was built only in the 90s. Trough if you look hard enough you'll spot the flying wheel on the top of the obstructed old building. When you enter the station comming from the city you can buy tickets on the left. There is also a staircase to the waiting room on this side. The secon gem is located just past the huge arches separating the old building from the new. Once you pass few stairs to this part of the building you'll see a large mural depicting sputnik and unity of peoples. The tird usefull thing to bare in mind when visiting is that there are only narrow platforms in Bratislava, so expect sholder on sholder situation. You can sometimes overcome this by using small underpass located on the left side of the building or near tail end of the trains arriving from Vienna and Kuty. If your not friendly with stairs you can also use newly fitted lifts located near this area.

So I was just trying to look up which platform my train would be on and I saw the Hlavna Stanica has a 1.6/5 rating on Google. 1.6!! That is overly harsh and so I am giving it 5 stars out of solidarity. Sure it may not be the cleanest, and the lady at the info counter sent me in the wrong direction, Cafe Internet mysteriously does not have internet, and the lids in the hot chocolate machine are often differently sized from the cups causing me to have one chocolate flavoured sock during my day in Budapest - but that's all part of the charm, right? Look, it's a train station. The trains come, they pick you up, they get you from A to B. Think on the miracle of the electric locomotive and show some gratitude. Did you know when trains were first invented, they were worried about the impact of high speed travel on the human body? Also did you know you can get cheaper tickets from Bratislava-Brno if you book online from Slovak Rail instead of the Czech website? Yeah, you're welcome.

Nice station with clear timetables, though homeless people are prevalent all year round but i guess that s issue of all bigger cities.
