There is an intimacy about the small historic centre of Bratislava. but the wider city - residential Bratislava - is an unpleasant reminder of all that was rotten with social developments in the old Eastern Bloc. Service mindedness is mostly unknown in this city. Not worth the detour from Vienna

This square is very well maintained. When walking though it we were impressed by the cleanliness. Tbe trees overhanging create a lovely soft light and the cobblestone on the floor creates the ideal effect of being on holiday and relaxing. Bratislava as a whole has been amazing and the overall city centre is very small but worth the visit

It is brilliant and has protective wiring so if you are afraid of falling then it will stop you before you have tripped over. I suggest taking a camera with a long distance viewing system and a thick jumper even in 40 degree weather.

Hviezdoslavovo námestie is a public square in Bratislava Old Town, between the Most SNP Bridge in the west and the Slovak National Theater in the east. The square is named after Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav, whose monument is also in the square.
The square is an important and lively spot in Bratislava. The aforementioned Slovak National Theater, several upmarket hotels including the Radisson Blu Carlton, Devin and Avance, as well as several embassies. On the north side of the square are mostly bars and restaurants.
It’s a nice square to wander around both night and day, and a very popular tourist spot especially for the photogenic opportunities including the opera house and the water feature in the square. At night much of the square and many of the buildings are beautifully lit up and the square looks fantastic.

Nice place surrounded by lot of bars, connecting the city center with SNP Bridge, so if you come by bus and stop in SNP will be one of the first things you will see in Bratislava. Hviezdoslav was a Slovak writer so you will find his statue on the square

A must-go square in the old-town. Beatiful in the evenings. Surely try the Andersen Ice Cream and the Koun ice cream to enjoy the atmosphere, sitting in a bench and watching the city breathe ^_^
