Great vibe and beautiful landscapes 🤩 August 19th is the Vlkolínec festival day and there are celebrations in the galleria with food and drinks.

Cool place to visit even during off-season. The weather was great and the views were fantastic. Nothing was open when I got there so I just walked around a bit and enjoyed the mountain air.

Vlkolinec used to be a dreamlike place. Small wooden village tucked under green mountains is a fabulous place to spend a day. Like every UNESCO-listed place Vlkolinec is flooded by tourists from all countries of the World. The village still has 17 permanent inhabitants plus some 50 owners of second homes. But you can still see the village in its original beauty and solitude. Simply come on early morning. Locals are sleeping and tourists are away. And the morning light falls golden on white-painted timber houses.

A really good example of an old village with beautiful little houses, some of which are still lived in today. We walked up from the bottom where during the summer a bus stops. Walking up in the snow was great, although a little on the chilly side! The village is easy to walk around, but it is all uphill. It cost us €3 each to get in, but it is worth it and there is a lovely little gift shop with some really nice local craft bits for sale. There is a restaurant but we only used the toilet which as standard cost us 50c each to use and were clean.

High recommend to visit. Musem under the sky. Somethink simmilar with trulli in Italy, Alberobello or Rumsiskes in Lithuania

Very nice village... A bit about it from wiki. Vlkolínec has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, and is one of ten Slovak villages that have been given the status of a folk architecture reservations. This status was granted because the village is an untouched and complex example of folk countryside architecture of the region of the Northern Carpathians.

Beautiful old village in between giant green mountains!
I recommend to go up the big meadow and have a picnic with a great view of the village.
Parking is free.

Amazing little village. We visited o Sunday when they had a celebration in the village. So we had to park the car in other village and little train an bus took us up to Vlkolinec. There were stalls with food and goods. The weather was great as well

Many old buildings saved in original form. Must see place around Ruzomberok. Great surroundings - not very high but quite steep mountains. Beware of swarms of people on weekends. I saw a restaurant there.

Lovely free open air museum. Entry fee for visiting inside of 2 traditional buildings + gallery. I recommend walking from the bottom free parking lot, especially if with camper car or larger van. There are coffee shops in the village.

This place is fantastic. You can see traditional village houses in original setting as the village is not just a museum but people live there which makes it super unique. You can see some farm animals as well. Great time out if you want to see how people lived back in the day. We stopped here on our way from one end of the country to the other. It's perfect break for the kids and adults to stretch the legs from the sitting in the car 👍

Very narrow and steep road leading to it. Very slippery when wet. Better driving skills required. Othervise very nice and quiet small village overrun by tourists.

Small little village in Slovakia where everything looks like in the past. It’s possible to walk around the village for free, but if you want to visit the museum in the village you need to buy a ticket for 2 euros. I definitely recommend to visit this place if you want to see how Slovak villages looked like in the past.
