Music Forum

The Music Forum shop is a world of its own. It is THE place in Bratislava, Slovakia, for classical music aficionados not only to hunt for the best of classical music and some additional genres (for instance great jazz!), but also to taste the centuries old world of classical music of Bratislava. For those who come to Bratislava to settle or stay for some time, it is the route to the world of classical music. The shop is in the very centre of the city and one of its most picturesque parts intact by tourist tat and post-communist consumerism. The range of products includes concert tickets, CDs, journals, books AND music scores. The latter can be also ordered on request from abroad, as the shop serves the leading music institutions in Slovakia. The superbly hospitable and professional family business has decades of history. The couple, Igor and Vlasta Valentovič have lifetime of experience in the music world as church music singers, writers, reviewers, publishers and organisers of music events. Fluent – indeed most elegant - English and German is a norm. Great coffee and a lovely setting to browse through the wonderful collection make the shop home for every visitor and a potential route to the local, yet utterly international community of musicians and music aficionados. (The atmosphere is enhanced by a sweet scruffy dog Masha rescued by the couple from a shelter!) The community continues in the footsteps of the century of gatherings just around the corner – in the home of the Albrecht Family where the couple and their friends grew up as musicians and singers. Together they are now reconstructing the Albrecht house just around the corner from the shop. The shop is a must for everyone who wishes to get to know Bratislava´s world of classical music - a well worth visit and unique cultural experience, plus a likely source of lifetime friendship.
