A chunky, massive, brutalist monument to Ludovit Štur, the leader of Slovak national revival.

Interestingly enough, on the same place there used to be a statue of Maria Theresa which was demolished by the anti-Habsburg people and this one was installed as a sign of rebellion on its place.

Ludevít Velislav Štúr; 29 октября 1815, Угровец у Бановец-над-Бебравой — 12 января 1856, Модра близ Братиславы) — словацкий поэт, филолог, общественный деятель. Был идеологом словацкого национального возрождения в XIX веке, автор словацкого языкового стандарта, в конечном счете приведшего к современному словацкому литературному языку, организатор словацких революционных кампаний в течение Революции 1848—1849 годов в Венгрии, депутат парламента Королевства Венгрии, политический деятель, поэт, журналист, издатель, преподаватель, философ и лингвист.

La escultura monumental de Ľudovít Štúr y Štúrovec se dio a conocer en 1973. Su autor es el escultor académico Tibor Bártfay, arquitecto Ing. arco. Ivan Salay. Está compuesto de granito, bronce y mide 12,5 metros. El trabajo se entiende como un movimiento colectivo de jóvenes eslovacos liderados por un líder natural.

Entre los personajes también está el
rostro de una mujer, la hermana de Štúr, Karolína, la esposa de Hurban, Annička Jurkovič y niñas eslovacas de los Esturiones.
