Went up with kids, the weather was beautiful. It was a lovely place to visit. Historical place. Had for older people to get to the top. Try to set off early in the morning if you want to go to the top. I would not recommend old people to try to go up. Take water bottles with you. There are some small shops on the way where you can buy fruit and water. Took us 45 minutes to get to the top. Depends on your pace.

Praying 2 Rakat Nadal in the Cave. Carry 1.5 liter water bottle with you, if possible carry extra water to give to needy ones. 2 hour climb to top. Wear comfortable joggers. Umbrella would be helpful.

Best time to hike the mountain is soon after Fajar..if you're getting late, you have to face sunlight that might affect you.

A must visit place for Ziarat during Hajj-Umrah Pilgrimage. The Place where Hazat Muhammad PBUH took refuge while going to Madina (Yasrab) along with Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiq when Kufaar of Meccah ( tauba Naozubillah ) tried to kill both of them.

I feel extraordinary peace 🕊 relaxation and calmness. also a wonderful view of the holy city Makkah Al Mukarma. Masjid Al Haram, Mina Muzdalfa and Arafat all could be watchable from Ghar e Thowr.
I recommend everyone to go there, young people can go in 1 hour to 1 and half hours and old 2 hours to 3 hours after staying and taking breath for 5 minutes at every station. people also can buy water and some food all the way from the staying stations.

Amazing mountain climb up to Thour Cave took about 4 hours up and down would highly recommend to go a couple hours before sunset to avoid the heat. There are many people and shelter stops scattered throughout the path. At the top you can see the cave itself and an amazing view of Makkah and haram. If you get the time I would recommend to come up to the top and explore a little. Here are a couple pictures and a short video.

Take water with you and don't forget to wear shoes. There are 2 caves at the Top, you should visit both caves. Best time to go is just after Fajar prayer before sunrise If you want to go in summer. Avoid taking kids with you if you want to go on top.

It's the cave where the Prophet (PBUH) and his companion Abu Bakr (RA) hide for three days from the Quraish tribe.

Great Experience, one must bring water bag to hydrate while climbing the mountain ⛰ also take small rest don't go in a single run. Its too high preferably go in the deep morning before sunrise to avoid excessive heat while returning from mountain.

Take some milk with you to feed cats 🐈 in the top of the mountain Inside the cave cats are there.

One can bring prayer mat to donate in the top of the mountain, the person who prays give blessings because rocks surface heat more.

To hike the mountain early morning is a preferable time and definitely you need few bottles of water, some cookies or chocolate, sport shoes, full sleeve wear to avoid sun burn, at least with one companion, group is much better..
Recite Allah ho Akbar while ascending and Subhanallah while descending..

You have to be fit enough to do the trek. It's made up of broken rocks and gravel stones. Some parts are very steep but overall it's achievable with adequate rests in-between as you will find small stopover shops selling water and drinks as you climb up the hill.

Total time with stops takes between 1:30-40min total one way. While coming down maybe easier and quicker it does require careful stepping as the gravity pull is strong. It takes approx 30-45min to come down.

Overall it was an emotional experience when you reach the top especially for the Muslims who see where the beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW spent 3 nights in this cave.

Known as the “Hill of Illumination” or “Mountain of Light”, Jabal Al-Nour Mountain is famous for the Cave of Hira. This was the place where Prophet Muhammad is said to have been blessed with the first of his many revelations. Its significance in Islamic history, along with rising views of Makkah and the Holy Mosque from its summit, makes Jabal Al-Nour a renowned tourist spot among pilgrims worldwide.

In Ramadan 610 CE, the first revelations of the Holy Quran were received by Prophet Muhammad at the Hira Cave. According to the Quran, this night is called ‘the Night of Power’. The legend has it that when Prophet Muhammad was on his usual solitude retreat in the cave, during the final 10 days of the month of Ramadan, Hazrat Jibreel (Archangel Gabriel) visited him and told him to recite the first verse of the Quran. During the Hajj season, this cave is most visited by the pilgrims, but during Umrah, travellers do not make the visit to the cave obligatory. Followers of the Holy Prophet climb the rock to reach the cave on the top and seek blessings.

How to reach the Cave of Hira?
the-hira-cave

Location: In the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia, outside Makkah, the Cave of Hira is located in the Jabal Al-Nour Mountain at a height of 634 meters. It is 4 km away from the Holy Kaaba and overlooks the north with its entrance pointing directly towards the Kaaba. This was the place from where the first divine words of revelation are believed to have descended upon Prophet Muhammad to light up the universe. How to reach: It takes a lot of effort to visit the Hira Cave as it is located at the top of the Nour Mountain, which is a 20 meters’ walk to and from the cave. Jabal Al-Nour is a short drive northwest of the Old City. As the heat is extreme during the day, most pilgrims participate in the summit in the evening or at dawn and dusk.

Depending on an individual’s physical strength and ability, the climb up to the cave takes about 45 minutes to 3 hours. This peak is visible for many kilometres around, and it is advised to bring plenty of water and a flashlight along if climbing in the dark. After a climb of about 1,200 steps, the summit is complete, and one can easily recognise the Cave of Hira by a sign painted on stone.
